Things to do before Travelling to your Chosen University in India or Abroad

  • 24 April 2024

As most of the DP2 students hold multiple university offers and confirmed their admission to a particular one, it’s time to prepare for smooth landing in UG university life. While students are excited about the University life, they tend to miss out on important preparation steps.

There are few things students and parents can do:

1. Students must get a full-health checkup including dental checkup completed at least 2months prior to ensure no unexpected instances.

2. Parents and Students should investigate to find the most personalized travel and health insurance.

3. Book your flights in advance. Most of the airlines while booking tickets, offer student excess baggage allowance, look out for such concession.

4. Pack as early as possible to maintain flight baggage allowance as per the booked flight.

5. Create a clear scan copy of all academic and identification documents in a secured folder accessible to student and parents, both online and offline mode.

6. Cabin baggage must contain all your academic and identification documents, two blue and black pens, basic cash, a pair of clothes, some long-shelf-life snacks, any relevant or basic medicines with prescription, and sleep comforting accessories.

7. Completely be aware of your immigrations document requirements and keep it handy as well as secure.

8. Do not carry belongings of others or on their behalf in your baggage. If you do, declare it.

9. Do not share personal information with other passengers/people at the airport or during your flight for personal safety reasons.

10. Students and parents must inform the University about travel plans and avail emergency contact details.

The above is a short list of important points to note and follow. Should you still require assistance, fix an appointment with Oakridge Career Counsellor at the earliest opportunity. All the best!
