Veteran diplomat N. Parthasarathi underscored dignity and human rights as fundamental values in contemporary international relations.
Oakridge International School Bengaluru hosted OAK MUN 2025 on 19th & 20th September, bringing together around 350 young delegates from 8 participating schools for two days of intensive diplomatic simulation and debate. The conference, held under the compelling theme “Voices That Won’t Wait,” demonstrated the urgent need for youth engagement in addressing global challenges.
The event showcased remarkable national & international participation, including delegates from Nord Anglia sister schools Northbridge International School Cambodia, and Oakridge International School Bachupally, highlighting the conference’s growing significance in Southeast Asia & India (SEA&I) region.
“To prevent inordinate catastrophes, to create solutions, to change the course of history, and to reach that ideal idea of ‘peace’,” stated Soumyajit Sur Roy, Secretary General of OAK MUN 2025, encapsulating the conference’s ambitious vision for youth-led global solutions. Director Generals Akshat Shanker and Rishita Borah echoed the same sentiment.
The opening ceremony was graced by Ambassador N. Parthasarathi, a veteran diplomat with over three decades of distinguished service in the Indian Foreign Service. He brought invaluable insights to the young delegates on the importance of diplomacy and international cooperation.
In his speech addressing the delegates, Parthasarathi said: “OAK MUN will teach you that for any conflict resolution, what is essential is not force, but dialogue, discussion and debate – that is what you are going to learn. To cooperate, articulate, persuade and compromise – these are the essentials you need to develop to resolve issues”.
The closing ceremony featured Aryan Ghosh, Founder of EDMO, who addressed the delegates on innovation and leadership in addressing contemporary global challenges.
“Over the years, Oakridge has built a MUN legacy of our own. I am happy to see that the 10th edition of the MUN carried it forward with the delegates gaining proficiency in international affairs and global issues” said Principal Kavita Sukhani.
