  • 13 June 2025

The NAE MIT Professional Development (PD) Week for teachers is a collaborative initiative between Nord Anglia Education (NAE) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Its primary goals are centered around enhancing teaching practices through exposure to cutting-edge STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.

Ms Vidya, Head of Department – Sciences from Oakridge International School, joined 55 teachers from every region in the Nord Anglia network for the annual week-long immersion in MIT’s research, campus, and culture.

Here are the key goals of NAE MIT PD week for teachers:

1. Immerse in MIT’s “Mind and Hand” Ethos

Teachers experienced MIT’s unique approach to learning, which emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-based education.

2. Engage in STEAM-Focused Workshops

Participants took part in interactive workshops, lectures, and hands-on projects designed by MIT faculty and researchers.

3. Collaborate Globally

Teachers from NAE schools worldwide came together to share best practices, build networks, and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects.

4. Explore Cutting-Edge Research

Teachers interacted with MIT professors and PhD students, gaining insights into current research and how it can be translated into classroom learning.

5. Adapt MIT Challenges for Classrooms

Educators learnt how to implement and adapt MIT-designed challenges and activities for their students, fostering creativity and problem-solving.

6. Strengthen the NAE-MIT Partnership

The week reinforced the ongoing collaboration between NAE and MIT, ensuring that the latest educational innovations are brought into Oakridge International School classrooms.

7. Inspire Lifelong Learning

The experience was designed to reignite teachers’ passion for learning and innovation, which they can pass on to their students.
