Principal Desk Update- October 2022

  • 19 October 2022

Dear Parents,

October has been a really festive month; we had barely been in school after the Dusshera holidays and within a couple of weeks we are going on another short break for Diwali. Let me begin by wishing you and your families a bright and beautiful Diwali. To mark the occasion, we look forward to seeing our children and staff in their ethnic best, celebrating with a class pot-luck and an interesting inter-house cultural show representing the cultural diversity of India.

However, before the celebrations commence, I am happy to note that the first set of assessments in senior school have concluded and teachers are all set for report cards. The portions covered are short but the objective is to keep you updated on the progress of the children through report card comments and AEMs. If you are a new MYP or DP parent, please don’t hesitate to clarify anything on the reports. MYP assessments are only at first a little baffling (especially if you are used to PYP touchstone reports) and terms like criteria, strands seem like an alien language but you will be surprised how soon you master it. Just to help, I believe some of our students are putting together a short video to give you a crash course in interpreting MYP assessments. Class be sharing the same with you shortly.

Apart from assessments, the senior school has been buzzing with preparations for Junior Model United Nations (JMUN). We are immensely proud of this event, mainly because it is conceptualised, designed and run by the students for the students. The weekend after Diwali will be a busy one, as more than 200 students from the neighbouring schools and our own students will participate to showcase their research and debate skills.

While the senior students are impressing us with their skills, primary school children have once again, claimed our hearts with the Activity showcases. I am always blown away by the energy and talent of our children. I am sure parents you will agree- the inside out theme, the instrumental performances, songs and dances were absolutely outstanding. And to think they achieved all this in less than 2 months.

Many thanks, once again to the Music department, teachers, coordinators and the Head of Primary, Ms. Bindu, for putting together these visual treats in record time. Though, after all the singing and dancing, our children are not resting on their laurels. They have already started preparing for the fast approaching Sports day on November 11th and 12th . More on that later.

Wishing you love, laughter and happiness, this Diwali and always.

Thank you

Kind Regards,

Pallavi Mishra
