Update from the Principal’s Desk

  • 15 February 2023

Dear Parents,

At Oakridge, we are absolutely clear that a safe and nurturing learning environment, both in school and at home is integral to the holistic development of our children. That is why we have been supporting the parent community through several workshops developed by the school team internally.

I am delighted to share with you that towards this aim of building a nurturing learning environment, we are hosting a session by the renowned international speaker, President awardee, and Raj yoga practitioner B.K Shivani on 1st April 2023 on the school soccer field. We have reserved spots for Oakridge parents though we are opening this event to a larger parent community as well. Please do the registration as soon as it is open as we have limited seats. This event is free of charge for the audience. However, we seek your cooperation with timely registrations. More details will follow.

Please also join me in celebrating the enormous success of the first-ever Literature Festival-Oak Pursuit 2023. This is an entirely student-led and teacher-facilitated event. We have indeed a whole lot to celebrate this Month-Oak senior and junior Code-fest, Scholars’ cup, and Innoventure champions to name a few. Oakridge students also won the international schools’ Tennis championship Trojan cup, besides achieving brilliant results in Taekwondo state and national competitions. Many congratulations to all students, teachers, and parents.

We are very proud of the way our students balance academic excellence with achievements in sports, debates, coding, and various competitions. Speaking of which, MYP 5 students deserve to be congratulated for the excellent projects and the enthusiasm with which they tackled their “passion project’, to quote Ms.Nishtha, the PP coordinator.

At the beginning of Feb, we also welcomed back the DP students who visited the Andaman Islands. Please follow our Instagram and Facebook pages if you don’t want to miss the lovely pictures they took in these stunning surroundings. Primary students had a series of unit culminations and once again exceeded our expectations with the precociousness with which they engage.

All this experiential learning is balanced by the academic rigor we practice at Oakridge. I wish all the children writing assessments this month and the beginning of March, the very best. I remain a teacher at heart so I love it when I get to support any child in English. The only catch is that such luxury is available to me only after school hours and only on certain days. Though, during dispersal, I love hearing from children about the books they are reading.

This Friday MYP students are all set to welcome you to the much-awaited student-led conference. Prepare to be amazed by their communication and persuasion skills.

Another exciting event to look forward to this month is the Leadership Camp for grades III-VIII at school from 24th Feb to 26th. This is the time of the year when the whole school transforms into a massive adventure arena with zip-lining, hot-air balloons, and a whole lot of exciting activities. Class teachers will share grade-wise specific details with parents.

I would be happy to meet and greet you during any of your visits. If I am booked for another meeting, please feel free to reach out to me via email. It is always an absolute pleasure to connect with the parent community.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Pallavi Mishra.
