Update from the Principal’s Desk | September 2026

  • 10 September 2026

Dear Oakridge Family,

The new academic year has begun with great energy, with our students, teachers and families coming together with enthusiasm. Across academics, student life and the many opportunities we continue to create, there is already much to celebrate.

Strong MYP Results, Continued Consistency

Our MYP 5 results once again reflect the consistency of our IB MYP programme, with an average score of 44.3 and 18 students scoring above 50 points in the MYP eAssessments, a fitting reflection of the hard work of our students and teachers.

A New Student Council Takes Shape

Our Student Council process for the year has concluded, with over 130 nominations for leadership positions across the Primary and Secondary School. Through persuasive speeches, group discussions, interviews and elections, students demonstrated real leadership potential, culminating in the formation of the Student Council for 2026–27.

Congratulations to our new Student Council team and thank you to our outgoing team for the responsibility they carried and the initiatives they led this year. To those who were not selected for a position, remember that leadership is not defined by a title, your willingness to step forward and share your ideas is itself an act of leadership, and we look forward to finding new ways for you to take initiative.

We celebrated the Investiture Ceremony today, followed by our Teachers’ Day celebrations. Our students made the day truly special for our teachers, taking the opportunity to acknowledge the people who support and inspire them every day.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our students have been active across sports competitions, field trips and experiential learning opportunities, made possible by the planning of our school teams and the support of our parents. Our collaboration with Lakshyan Academy for the extended learning programme is also taking shape, with students signing up.

DEC Programme and Creative Opportunities

Our newly launched DEC Programme is already bringing learning to life through field visits and expert sessions. Meanwhile, our MYP 5 Drama students are preparing for the Bangalore Theatre Festival in November, in collaboration with NCPA Connections, a wonderful opportunity to take their learning beyond the school and engage with the wider creative community.

STEAM Time in the Primary Years

STEAM time is fast becoming a valuable addition to our inquiry-driven approach, helping students make connections across subjects and apply their learning in creative, practical ways. It has been rewarding to see the curiosity this brings into our primary classrooms.

Strengthening Family Communication

Keeping families connected and informed remains a priority. We have upgraded our Toddle subscription, and much of our school communication is now moving onto the platform to make it easier for families to stay connected with school life.

Outstation Trips and Growing Participation

Our middle school outstation trips are approaching, with a welcome rise in student participation this year. These trips remain some of the most memorable parts of a student’s school journey, building independence, resilience, collaboration and confidence beyond the familiar school environment.

Engaging with Universities

Our university engagement has started strongly this year, with visits from institutions ranging from Johns Hopkins University to Ashoka University, along with several other Indian and international universities. These interactions give our students and parents a valuable head start in exploring pathways and understanding what lies ahead.

Looking Ahead

The coming months will bring exciting infrastructure upgrades to the MPH and school library, further enhancing our learning environment. Initiatives like this makes us one of the top IB schools in Bengaluru. There is a great deal to look forward to this year, and we are excited to see it unfold together, one milestone at a time.

Warm regards,

Ms. Kavita Sukhani
