Update from the Principal’s Desk | September 2025

  • 10 September 2025

Dear Oakridge Community,

This month, we celebrate the spirit of student leadership with the appointment of our Student Council for 2025-26. Congratulations to our new leaders and well done to all students who participated in the application process, interviews, and persuasive speeches.

The council provides invaluable life skills as students experience preparing, planning, persuading, decision-making, and – importantly – accepting the decisions of others. We work closely with them throughout this process to help navigate these meaningful learning experiences.

The outgoing Student Council of 2024-25 has left an indelible mark and our new council is ready to fulfill the significant promises and expectations that lie ahead.

Teachers’ Day Celebrations

Our students ensured our teachers felt truly special on Teachers’ Day through thoughtful class-level interactions in the secondary school and a surprise show organized by our primary students. Senior students helped supervise and manage the celebrations, demonstrating care and a strong sense of community belonging. Our teachers also enjoyed some well-deserved downtime with a small outing—a gesture of appreciation for their hard work.

Parent Engagement

Thank you to all parents who have been attending the Monday webinars. These sessions are designed to share insights about school life and explore opportunities for your participation. We’ve received an excellent response from parents regarding school involvement, and we’ll soon be sharing the list of Oak Parent Partners with the entire community.

Oak Model United Nations

September marks one of the most anticipated occasions of the year: the Oak MUN – interschool Model United Nations for students in grades 6-12. This student-led initiative has been in development since April 2025, with our dedicated team working throughout the summer break while balancing their academic responsibilities. We’re expecting over 300 participants this year, which marks the 10th year of Oakridge’s MUN legacy, including students from our partner schools in Cambodia and Hyderabad.

Secondary School Trips

Our secondary school trips are scheduled for October, offering students opportunities to build connections and learn beyond school. When planning these excursions, we carefully select destinations and experiences that engage students beyond typical tourist activities. Safety remains paramount, and we’re most excited about the relationships that develop during these journeys.

Enhanced Communication and Learning Systems

To improve communication with families and enhance student learning, I’m pleased to announce the launch of Toddle, a learning management system for our primary and middle school students. We’ll implement this system gradually throughout the year, taking one step at a time to ensure a smooth transition.

We continue using ManageBac for grade 9 and above. These platforms will facilitate better resources and homework sharing with students while enabling parents to access continuous feedback. Our academic teams are currently in training, and we’ll keep you informed of our progress.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

Warm regards,
Kavita Sukhani
