Update from the Principal’s Desk | May 2025
- 3 June 2025
My first year at Oakridge and what a year it has been! I want to express my gratitude to everyone in our school community of students, staff, parents and Nord Anglia for accepting and supporting me in making this year at school a beautiful and memorable journey of growth.
I am proud to launch our First Yearbook for academic year 2024-25, we have been able to capture many moments of learning and experiences at school this year to have a memory for years to come. The digital yearbook will soon reach you.
As we move into the summer break, continuing with most of our initiatives from 2024-25, I wish to share some insights on a few events and changes coming up for the academic year 2025-26.
School Time: Every Wednesday will be an extended day for the school (7:45am to 3:00pm), for us to engage in beyond classroom activities, clubs etc.
Secondary Classrooms will now be subject classrooms, giving us an opportunity to enhance the learning environment and making our students responsible and independent.
The coming year brings exceptional opportunities for our students. We proudly host the Nord Anglia Southeast Asia Regional Model United Nations at our campus in September, while secondary school trips move to October. November features Innovengers, our Design Thinking event at Oakridge to challenge students’ creative problem-solving abilities. Additionally, our collaboration with Game Theory enhances the after-school sports learning experience through innovative methodologies.
We are upgrading our Class Teacher model into a comprehensive Homeroom Advisor system that goes beyond simple nomenclature. This strategic shift focuses on building deeper, more meaningful connections with our students through dedicated support structures. Each grade will be supported by a primary Homeroom Advisor and a Co-Homeroom Advisor, creating a robust dual-support framework designed to enhance individual student development.
We are strengthening our parent-school partnership through structured engagement opportunities. Our Meet and Greet sessions on 17th & 18th July will allow teachers to personally connect with students and families while establishing preliminary academic and developmental goals. The Curriculum Day on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, will provide parents with an in-depth orientation to IB framework. We are introducing weekly Monday webinars to keep parents informed and engaged through regular information sessions.
The much-anticipated heated swimming pool project is now underway. Our Early Years learning spaces and main auditorium will undergo comprehensive renovations during vacation. Some aging buses in our transportation fleet will be replaced with new vehicles for the 2025-26 academic year. We are also transforming an existing open area into a dedicated forest garden for immersive nature-based learning experiences.
We wish all our families and team members a wonderful holiday and looking forward to seeing you all in July.
