Principal Update January 2026 Oakridge Bengaluru

Update from the Principal’s Desk – January 2026

  • 12 January 2026

Dear Oakridge Families,

I wish all our families the very best for a successful and happy 2026. It has been wonderful to see our students return to school with such positivity and energy as we begin our second term.

We have started the year with fantastic news from the college front. Our DP 2 students have already begun receiving offers from a wide range of prestigious universities, including Cornell University, University of Sydney, University of St Andrews, and the Universities of Manchester, Glasgow, Exeter, Lancaster, Sheffield, and York. In the US, offers have come in from Pennsylvania State University, University of Pittsburgh, Case Western Reserve University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, UMass Boston, Pratt Institute, and The New School. Locally, our students have secured places at O.P. Jindal Global University, FLAME University, and Christ University, with many more to follow. We are incredibly proud to see our student’s finding success at such diverse institutions, reflecting their hard work and the many different paths they are choosing for their futures.

Our MYP 5 Personal Project Exhibition on the 9th of January was another great milestone. Every time I experience this event, it reminds me of the value the MYP framework brings to a student’s learning. It truly helps them develop lifelong skills like research, creativity, and communication. We had approximately 75 projects showcased, ranging from creating AI models, a telescope, an airplane model, facial serum, research papers, design each project exemplifies the uniqueness and personal growth of the students.  Similarly, our Middle School students recently hosted their Student-Led Conferences. It was great to see them take charge of showcasing their own learning, reflecting on what they have achieved so far, and planning their next steps for this term.

Beyond the classroom, our students continue to represent Oakridge with distinction at different stages. A group of our keen mathematicians recently participated in the Infinity Math Competition organized by Aditya Birla World Academy in Mumbai and every one of our participating students received a Merit Award. I would like to extend a special mention to Agastya from MYP 4, who brought home the “Mathematician of the Year” award – a truly remarkable achievement.

Our Student Council also organized a wonderful Homecoming event for our high schoolers. We were joined by 15 of our alumni, and it was a pleasure to hear how they are doing in college and beyond. Staying connected with our former students is always a highlight for our faculty.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting few weeks on the horizon. Our Early Years students are preparing for their performance showcase, while our Grade 5 students are beginning to gear up for their landmark PYP Exhibition. On the sports field, we are getting ready for the Secondary Sports Days on the 20th and 21st of January, followed by our much-anticipated inter-school competition, the Phoenix Cup, on the 22nd and 23rd. In February, we are excited to host Codefest, India’s largest overnight hackathon for secondary students. Jr. Codefest will take place on the 6th of February, followed by the main event on the 7th and 8th.

Finally, I want to acknowledge our DP 2 students, who are currently in a period of intense focus. They are balancing the final stages of their college applications and internal deadlines, all while preparing for their Mock Exams starting in February. We wish them the very best as they navigate these important steps.

It has only been a week, but the term is already full of life and achievement. Thank you for your continued support as we make 2026 a memorable year for all our students.

Warm regards,

Kavita Sukhani
