Update from the Principal’s Desk | August 2025

  • 8 August 2025

Dear Oakridge Families,

We have started the academic year with wonderful results for both MYP and DP, two successful interactions with our parent community and now we are already in the flow of teaching and learning. Many Congratulations to our MYP 5 and DP 2 Cohorts of 2024-25, this is an outcome of resilience and continued partnership of school, students and parents.

A warm welcome to all our new families who have joined us this year and also to the new team members of our school staff. At Oakridge we believe in the immense potential of each of our students and we aim to ensure that each one of our students is recognized for their unique strength and interest.

We have brought in a few changes this year to enhance our communication and systems at school. In our endeavour to expand Beyond School opportunities, we are utilizing Padlet as a digital notice board to ensure all students are informed about available programs and activities. We are starting Monday Webinars (every Monday 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm) for short parent info sessions to inform about different school initiates. Look out for the upcoming webinars this month. We hope you have received the Academic Year Calendar, and the parent Handbook will reach you soon.

Our intent is to keep reflecting on our practices and continue to grow. Our secondary students now have subject classrooms; this move has brought energy to our school day. With the subjects taught in its dedicated spaces, teachers tailor the classroom environment to the subject needs. This structure will boost student engagement, support teacher preparation and overall learning experience. Having students move between classes helps them refresh for the next one and build a sense of independence and responsibility.

Thank you for accepting the LEAP programme (Learning Enrichment Activities Programme), we hope to see students engaged in a variety of beyond classroom experiences and make the most of the valuable time. We are monitoring the travel delays and will take appropriate action in case required.

We have started the school year with students already starting to get engaged in participating and preparing for interschool events, a time when we start the process of looking for new student leaders. Hope to see you at the Independence Day celebrations on 15th August and the Investiture ceremony in early September.

Wishing everyone a wonderful year ahead.

Warm Regards,
Kavita Sukhani
