  • 31 January 2022

December 22 is celebrated as National Mathematics Day, in India to honor one of the greatest mathematicians, India has ever got- Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887-1920). Born in 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu, the story of Ramanujan’s tryst with mathematics is one of the most engaging tales read, depicted, and performed through various works of art.

Ramanujan was a self-taught mathematician, who made extraordinary contributions to the field of mathematics. He is known for his contributions to the theory of numbers, which consist of pioneering discoveries of the properties of the partition function.

UNESCO and the Indian Government are working together to create awareness of the science of number amongst the youth. National Mathematics Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm and vigor at Oakridge International School, Mohali as well.

Oakridgers learned and applied Mathematics Concepts via fun mathematical games, which motivated the students to participate actively and find creative solutions to the problems, hence applying the existing knowledge and learning new concepts.

Mathematics is the Music of Reason” and the the learners danced to this music in full ecstasy.
