Principal’s Desk Update – April 2023
- 10 April 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am pleased to provide you with the monthly update for April 2023.
As we welcomed the new academic year 2023-24, it was heartening to see our students return to Oakridge International. We also extend a warm welcome to our new students and their families.
As part of our commitment to the UNICEF Social Impact Program, Oakridge International in collaboration with the NGO Parley organized a Beach Clean-up event on 8 April. The event was a great success, and we appreciate everyone who participated.
Our second cohort of IBDP students have completed their mock exams and are preparing for their board examinations from 28 April. We wish them all the very best for their upcoming exams.
On 5 April our outgoing school prefects were invited for ‘La Gratitud’- an evening with the principal. They were thanked and appreciated for their leadership work in the school. We had great conversations with the prefects sharing their wonderful experiences and all that they learned throughout the year.
We are delighted to inform you that the Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2023 is scheduled for 14 April. Christopher Short, Managing Director, Nord Anglia Education, India will be joining us as the Guest of Honour, and Oakridge alumnus from the Class of 2018 will be the Chief Guest. We eagerly anticipate their gracious presence and their inspiring address.
We are collaborating with the UK-based education company 8 billion Ideas to organize a two-day program, ‘Perform Better’, for our Grade 10 and 12 students on 13 and 14 April. This program is designed to provide useful tools our students need to achieve their peak performance. We believe this program will help our students to achieve their goals.
Our secondary students have started having sessions on goal setting and the expectations they lay down for themselves to be successful in this academic year. We encourage our students to set achievable goals and work towards them.
The Cambridge Checkpoint examinations are fast approaching for our primary (Grade 5) and lower secondary (Grade 8) students. We wish them all the very best to ace the examination.
I am excited to share the extraordinary achievement by Our Oakridgers, at the International Level Rangotsav Celebrations in colouring, handwriting, collage, cartoon and greeting card making, sketching competition. 2 students have won the 3rd prize, one student bragged the 4th prize, 10 students were awarded with Spectacular Performance Award, 21 students received the Emerging Youth Artist Award and 10 students got the Consolation Award.
We also have 7 students winning second place in Ugadi Prathibha Purasakar Awards for Classical Dance performance, conducted at Pauragrandhalayam, Public Library in Visakhapatnam on 26 March, 2023.
Lastly, I had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with parents and students of Early Years. I also got an opportunity to welcome and meet our new families who visited the school on the first day of the new school year to participate in the ‘Know Your Teacher’ sessions that were held for Nursery to Grade 1 students and their families.
The last working day for students will be on 21 April after which they will go for their summer break. We wish them a fun and enjoyable summer break.
Best wishes for a successful month ahead.
