Principal Desk Update December

  • 16 December 2021

Dear Parents,

To begin with, I am extremely delighted to share with you all that Our School is yet again ranked as the No 1 International Day cum Boarding school in Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh in the recent Education world India School rankings for the year 2021. This was possible because of our ever-supportive parents, inspiring students and our dedicated Oakridge team. Congratulations to you!

The month of November at Oakridge was very enriching with the presence of our Managing Director, Nord Anglia Education, India – Mr. Brian Cooklin. “Inspirational” – A single word is enough to describe Mr Cooklin. His visit was inspiring with a lot of learning for each one of us. Teachers not only had a chance to interact with him but also mentored him with a workshop on ’Effective Classroom Management’ which was remarkable and insightful for them.

To spread awareness and exhibit the importance of reading, a D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read ) week was inaugurated by Mr.Cooklin, where students were encouraged to drop everything and read, which will not only improve their vocabulary but also enhance their personal thinking skills. The DEAR week opened doors to all the students to indulge in their favorite book every day for an hour. Competitions were conducted for Bookmark Making, Creative Reading Corner, and If I am an Author creative writing. Students also participated in various creative activities like Cook-a-story, Book Hospital – wherein tattered books were repaired.

An activity-filled month concluding with the Managing Director meeting our support staff and personally thanking them for their phenomenal work was a cherishing experience.

PRIMARY FOCUS

To support them emotionally, to train them to use the coping mechanisms to combat the anxiety, and to improve their productivity, we conducted the “Stress Management – Group Counseling session” for the Grade 10 CBSE students. CBSE grade 10 and grade 12 Term 1 Board examinations are almost nearing completion. Students and teachers are gearing up to get started with the preparation for Term 2.

We wish our Grade 10 IGCSE students great success as they prepare for their Pre-board examination.

As the IBDP students’ examinations are also coming up, they are working with their teachers on their Internal Assessments and Extended Essay Research work.

I am positive all our students will want to perform their best in all exams; for this to happen, attendance and punctuality before and during the exam period will need to be exceptional. Please help us support your child by ensuring your child attends lessons and exams on time and brings the required learning materials to the school. I would like to take the opportunity to remind you of the essential role played by healthy eating and adequate sleeping patterns in a child’s ability to revise and retain, focus and perform.

FUTURE FOCUS – PATHWAY FOR CAREER

We gladly inform you that a good number of college applications are being sent out where students are getting into top universities like the University of Bath, United Kingdom. We are looking forward to 100 percent college placement this academic year as well.

LAST MONTH OF THE YEAR

December has started with the preparation for the annual day function. Children are enthusiastic and are actively rehearsing in Cultural activities and creating their Visual Arts masterpiece to showcase their skills and creativity. It is heartening to see our students and teachers working relentlessly to make this annual day spectacular.

PARENT SATISFACTION SURVEY

It would be of much help if you could also support us by participating in our Annual parent satisfaction survey, by sharing your valuable feedback on how we can continue to enhance our school to provide the best educational experience for your child. We would like to say a big thank you to parents who have completed the survey.

Regards,

Shaila Bhamidipati
