Oakirdge International School Visakhapatnam is proud of it’s IBDP-1 student Ms. Anwesha Jain for being a part ISRO YUVIKA residential program at Sriharikota. YUVIKA or “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” is a special programme organised by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for school children. The programme aims to impart basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications.

Around 337 students from all 28 states and 8 union territories underwent the programme for two weeks. The students were given exposure to space science, technology and applications through classroom lectures, hands-on activities such as model rocketry, sky gazing, robotic coding/experiments, CANSAT experiments, drone demonstrations, DIY kits assembly, ISRO facility visits and interaction with eminent scientists etc. Extracurricular activities like yoga & meditation, sports, cultural activities, and local tours etc. added elements of fun to the rigorous schedule.

“As a space enthusiast, the opportunity to visit the launch pads and witness a GSLV Mk 2 rocket poised for its upcoming mission was truly awe-inspiring. The sheer magnitude and intricacy of the spacecraft left me mesmerized, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement about the limitless possibilities that awaited humanity beyond Earth”, says Anwesha.

One of the most memorable moments was the rare opportunity to interact with the ISRO Chairman and personally meet SDSC-SHAR Director Shri A. Rajarajan. Their visionary leadership, unwavering passion, and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on all of us, she added.
