Teacher-Parent Relationships: Building Bridges for Student Success
- 7 November 2025
At Oakridge International School, Gachibowli, we believe that education is most impactful when it’s a shared journey between teachers, parents, and students. A strong school-home partnership is not just beneficial, it’s essential for student success. When parents and educators collaborate meaningfully, they create a nurturing environment that supports academic achievement and personal growth.
One of the key ways Oakridge fosters this collaboration is through Annual Expectation Meetings (AEMs), now redefined as Parent-Teacher-Student Meetings (PTSMs). Held at the beginning of each academic year, these meetings are more than just a check-in, they’re a strategic planning session where development goals are co-created based on each child’s unique strengths and challenges. With the student actively participating, these meetings promote self-reflection, accountability, and a clear understanding of milestones to be reached. This alignment ensures that both home and school are working in tandem to support the child’s journey.
Ms. Eshieta Sharma, MYP Coordinator, shares, “At Oakridge, we view education as a partnership. Through open communication, emails, calls, and school events, we ensure transparency and mutual understanding. Parents are invited to be part of the learning process through guest lectures, field trips, and classroom activities. These touchpoints help build a sense of community and shared responsibility.”
The school’s parent engagement program is another cornerstone of this collaboration. From orientation sessions that equip parents with strategies to support learning at home, to digital platforms that offer real-time updates and communication, Oakridge ensures that parents are empowered and informed. These initiatives encourage active participation and reinforce the idea that learning doesn’t stop at the school gate.
The impact of these efforts is profound. As Ms. Sharma notes, “When parents and teachers are aligned, children feel secure and motivated. They’re more willing to take intellectual risks, explore new ideas, and build emotional resilience. Over time, this partnership becomes a powerful force in helping students reach their full potential.”
In a world where education is rapidly evolving, Oakridge Gachibowli stands out for its commitment to teacher-parent communication, parent-school collaboration, and IB school parent involvement. By building strong bridges between school and home, we ensure that every child is supported, challenged, and celebrated.
