Sibling Advantage: Why Studying Together Builds Stronger Confidence and Emotional Stability
- 23 March 2026
Beginning school can feel both exciting and overwhelming, especially for younger children in the family, who meet new teachers, classmates, and a new environment all at once. At Oakridge International School, Gachibowli, many parents say that the transition is smoother when siblings study together. It provides comfort, reduces anxiety, and helps children start school with joy. When a younger child already knows the campus through their older sibling, the step into school life feels easy. They recognise the hallways, the playground and even school events they have attended before.
Parents often tell us that mornings feel calmer when both children attend the same school. Routines flow better at home, and siblings support one another during the early days.
“My three kids are at Oakridge. My eldest has been here for 8 years now. I still remember his first day — he was such a shy child. Today, he is a confident speaker and a knowledgeable learner. Seeing his journey, my other two children were excited and joyful to start school as well. Now all three of them come to school together, and it gives us great comfort knowing our children are in safe hands”, says Shilpa, a happy Oakridge Parent.
Our campus culture stays consistent from Early Years to Senior School. Children follow the same values, behaviour expectations, pedagogy and approach to wellbeing. Even though they are in different year groups, this gives siblings something in common.
We have student counsellors in MYP and Senior School who help children handle academic, mental and social challenges. They offer one-on-one and small group support to help children manage personal and academic concerns. SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) runs through daily lessons, so students build resilience and healthy relationships. Student-led initiatives promote a caring culture, while mental health and anti-bullying sessions teach safety and respect. Designated Safeguarding Leads, strong parent partnerships and coordinated support teams ensure every child feels safe and understood.
Our orientation programmes give parents and children a clear picture of what to expect. New students join a buddy system that helps them feel included from the first day. When siblings already know the school through each other, this support becomes even more effective.
Siblings never share an identity at Oakridge, even though they attend the same school. Teachers are aware that every child has different interests, learning styles, and strengths. We ensure that every child is supported to pursue their own interests.

We offer a sibling advantage for families with more than one child enrolled at Oakridge Gachibowli. This helps families plan long-term and enjoy the benefits of a shared school journey. Contact our admissions team to learn more about this.
