Celebrating Sankranti

& Republic Day

img

January at Oakridge was a vibrant blend of tradition and patriotism. Our Forest School buzzed with joy as students observed Pongal and Makar Sankranti, watching sweet Pongal simmer and sharing Ellu Bella with hearts full of gratitude. The spirit of the season was captured by the colorful kites flown high in the sky by our PYP students, symbolizing our soaring spirits. This sense of unity extended to our Republic Day celebrations, where our dedicated security team led a solemn unfurling of the tricolor, reminding us of our shared values as a nation.

Showcasing Innovations and Reflecting on Growth

On January 9th, our MYP 5 students presented their Personal Projects, the culmination of months of intense inquiry. The exhibition was a masterclass in innovation, featuring projects ranging from miniature hyperloops and solar-powered irrigation to research papers and Rajasthan-inspired fashion ensembles. This spirit of ownership continued during our Student-Led Conferences (SLC) where our students took the lead, walking parents through their projects and subject stations and reflecting on their progress with confidence. These milestones prove that when students own their learning, the results are truly transformative.

Four Days of Intense Competition and Inter-School Camaraderie

The campus was buzzing with energy as we hosted two major sporting events. The Senior Oaklympics saw the Aether Adventurers emerge as overall champions after two days of fierce competition across football, rock climbing, chess, and more—all tracked via our new real-time digital scoreboard. Following this, we hosted the Phoenix Cup, welcoming over 20 schools, including Greenwood and Inventure, for a display of elite inter-school sportsmanship. While the rivalries were intense, the spirit of fair play ruled the day, showcasing the true heart of the Oakridge athlete.

Mathematician of the Year and More Top Honors

Our students began the year by dominating the academic stage. At Infinity 2026, the Inter-School Math Championship, Agastya (Grade 9) was crowned Mathematician of the Year—a remarkable feat against 120 teams nationwide. At the World Scholar’s Cup Regionals at Greenwood High, our students came away with medals galore. A special shoutout to Anika who secured First Place overall among 800 juniors. These academic wins were mirrored on the field and range: Vivaan Ayyer (MYP 2) secured a National Bronze in Air Rifle shooting, Aarya (PYP 4) earned Player of the Match in the Bangalore Super League, and Sahasra Reddy (MYP 5) was crowned as Miss Teen Pride Hyderabad – her second consecutive title.

Global Photoshoot, Transport Upgrades & Staff Achievements

This month saw a major Global Photoshoot at our campus capturing the daily magic of everything at school. We extend a huge thank you to our parents for your cooperation and for ensuring our students were groomed so well for the shoot. Keep an eye out — you will soon see these new photographs being used across all our platforms! We are also excited to announce that the 10 new buses added to our transport fleet are now operational, featuring CCTV, live location tracking, and lady-guard assistance for a safer commute to our students. Finally, we celebrate the professional achievements of our staff: Ms. Swapna and Ms. Ranjana have successfully completed their M.Ed from King’s College London, embodying the lifelong learning we encourage in our students.
