As part of our ongoing efforts to create a safe, informed, and supportive learning environment, we held sexual literacy and safety sessions for our MYP to DP students, parents, and teachers. The sessions were conducted by UnTaboo, an organization that specializes in empowering young people with age-appropriate, fact-based, and sensitive guidance on these important topics.
The sessions covered aspects of anatomy, pubertal changes, emotional and behavioral changes, safety, healthy boundaries, consent, and the importance of open and respectful communication.
“It was very well conducted and quite an eye opener for us parents in so many ways. Our kids are fortunate to have an open and communicative environment in which to vocalize themselves and understand sex education better. We also learned about the parents’ role in giving children their safe place to express themselves,” said a parent after attending the sessions.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) Grades 4 & 5 recently held student council elections as part of its commitment to nurturing democratic principles and civic responsibility in young learners. Learners engaged in the electoral process by nominating candidates, participating in campaigns, and casting their votes for peer representatives.
Candidates presented their platforms to fellow students, promoting skills in public speaking, critical thinking, and respectful debate. This initiative reinforces the IB PYP’s dedication to creating informed, responsible global citizens who understand and value democratic participation from an early age.
The Secondary School Council elections will happen on 1st September. The newly elected student council members will serve as representatives for their peers, fostering a school environment where student voices contribute meaningfully to their educational community.
