Principal’s Desk Update – July 2024

  • 5 July 2024

Dear Parents,

As we embrace the month of July, I am delighted to share with you the exciting events and accomplishments of our school community.

The 2024-2025 academic year has begun wonderfully with a fresh experience for all. The month of June seems to pass by in a blink, so let’s take a moment to acknowledge the individuals, programs, and moments that contribute daily to making Oakridge a unique and cherished place. As students from all grades arrived on campus, bringing an unmatched vibrancy, we observed their productive interactions with teachers and peers. Reflecting the quote that says ” Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire,” we are proud to announce the exceptional results of the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint 2024. Achieving a flawless 100% pass rate, our students were assessed across four strands in English Language, Science, and Mathematics. Across all strands, Oakridge Vizag students surpassed international averages, with many achieving perfect scores, reflecting their sincere efforts and dedicated approach.

In addition to academic achievements, early, primary, and secondary students celebrated Father’s Day where they crafted paper art and colourful greeting cards, displaying their heartfelt feelings.

We also hosted informative Parent Orientation Programs, tailored separately for parents of secondary and primary year students. These sessions provided insights into the upcoming academic year and emphasized collaboration between home and school. A special Parent Panel discussion was hosted where the parents had an engaging interaction and spoke about the ‘Raising Adolescent.’

I am thrilled to announce that our students represented Oakridge School at the NAE UNICEF Summit in Houston, showcasing their commitment to global citizenship and contributing meaningfully to discussions on global issues.

In July, we will celebrate our Prize Day to recognize students from Grade 3 onwards for their academic excellence in the past year, as well as those who achieved outstanding results in the Board examinations. Alongside this event, we will host our Investiture Ceremony to appoint senior and junior prefects, as well as the Head Boy and Head Girl, who will be democratically elected by their peers. Grade 11 CBSE and IBDP 1 students will also participate in a two-day icebreaker session focused on team bonding and collaboration. Moreover, our IBDP 2 students will showcase their TOK (Theory of Knowledge) exhibition, demonstrating their critical thinking and research skills. 70 students from Grades 3 to 12 have registered for the eagerly anticipated dance competition “Natyaravali”. We extend our best wishes to all participants.

Looking ahead, I am confident that our community will continue to achieve great things, providing a supportive environment where our students can flourish both academically and personally. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to Oakridge School.

Warm regards

Shaila Bhamidipati
