Dear Parents,

October has been a time for bright festivities, learning, and fond memories for our community at Oakridge Mohali. From the Dussehra celebrations and the values of Gandhi Jayanti, to the creativity and confidence of our Annual Concert Drishtikon 2025, this month truly embodied the spirit of our learners—happy, inquisitive, and filled with potential.

Every event and every performance taught us that learning is much more than academics. It is also about fostering empathy, passion, and new ideas.

Warm regards,

Suman Kalra

(Principal)

Celebrating Dusshera

Our Primary Years students enjoyed a Dandiya event to celebrate the Dussehra. It was a true vision of color and the little ones created a lovely atmosphere with their vibrant traditional clothing. It was their first Dandiya and they bushy tailed with a Dandiya pair for every hand. The little ones recaptured the ages old triumph of good over evil and the truth. With kindness and compassion, even a devil of a situation could become a victory. It was a time of joyous laughter, music, and a Dandiya that ‘sparkled and shone’ for the ages.

The Power of School Events: Shaping Young Futures at Oakridge Mohali

There are moments in school life that go far beyond books and classrooms — moments that stay in a child’s heart forever. The Annual Concert 2025 – “Drishtikon: A Vision to Lead at Oakridge International School, Mohali, was one such experience.
It wasn’t just a performance; it was a celebration of courage, creativity, and the power of education.

When Pages Come Alive

Following the concert, Oakridge Mohali celebrated International Library Week, transforming classrooms into spaces of imagination and storytelling.

These celebrations continued with Ms. Promila, an educator and a storyteller with global certifications, who was awarded and is a counsellor. The students, with the narratives from stories, were saved and taken to the world of inventive stories, which is an avenue of priceless reading and creative thought.

To add to the celebrations, we organized a Guest Lecture, by Mr. Sohan Singh Rawat, the Founder and Director of Empact Media PR, and a socially active journalist. He focused on the social change and how stories and communication influence it through his lecture, “Pages Build Paper”.

Our theme “Characters Come Alive” brought pure joy throughout the week. Students from Nursery to Grade 5 came dressed as their favourite book characters.

Drishtikon 2025: A Vision to Lead

The highlight of the month was our Annual Concert – Drishtikon 2025, which was a great celebration of learning, creativity, and collaboration. After months of rehearsals, the awaited moments arrived when both PYP and Secondary segments showcased their spellbinding performances and captivated our audience.

The audience was treated to warm vocal performances, celebrated with spirited group dances, and participated in imagination with the dramatic role plays. Students also showcased their learning through the recital of poetry, robotics, and traditional performances of the Gidha. The performances also included thought provoking pieces on the Right to Education for All to advocate Oakridge’s purpose-driven education.

The audience also included our esteemed chief guests for the two days of celebrations, Ms. Deepika Singh Sekhon, and Superintendent of Police, for the PYP concert and Mr. Harcharan Singh, DSP (Traffic Police) for the Secondary event. The guests words and presence were inspirational and appreciated.

Parents were emotional and full of pride in watching their kids shine on stage, displaying creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Drishtikon 2025 was a great celebration of what Oakridge is about – building learners who lead with heart and vision.

Halloween Celebrations

The last month ended with playful adventures for our Early Years students, who got to commemorate Halloween. Our little Oakridgers dressed up as cheerful pumpkins, friendly ghosts, and adorable witches, and went Halloween “Trick or Treat” walking through the school’s corridors for an adventure that combined creativity with excitement.
It was heartwarming to see the youngest students reaping the value of fun with traditions from around the world with their peers.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Amarjit Singh

Watching grade 1 students engage with the topic “Homes Around the World” was a delight. Mr. Amarjit Singh expertly piqued the children’s interest in homes from all over the world and helped them appreciate different cultures and the creativity involved in construction around the world.

Guest Speaker Session with Ms. Alisha Deen

Psychologist Ms. Alisha Deen’s talk “Reading for a Better World” was an interactive session for students from Grades 7A and 7J. She talked about the role of reading in developing empathy and different emotionally charged constructs and encouraged the children to think about the ties between the narratives of their reading and the real world.

Guest Lecture by Ms. Supriya Nogal

Our Nursery learners had fun in Ms. Supriya Nogal’s session titled “Healthy Lifestyle”. She enlightened the children about the importance of health and well-being and influenced them to adopt balanced habits through fun activities along with some mindfulness practices to make health and well-being an integral part of early learning.

Discovery Days

Our Grade 2 students explored their Unit of Inquiry themed – “How the World Works” through a visit to Chandigarh’s Bird Park. This was an environment and biodiversity experiential learning trip. Here the learners engaged with various bird species, and habitats, and integrated their learning about ecosystems from the classroom to the excursion’s real world.
It was educational, yes, but the wonder and curiosity invoked was the true and intrinsic reason for the excursion; for some of the best learning takes place outside the classroom.
