Update from Principal’s Desk – July 2025

Dear Oakridge community,
I am thrilled to have our students back on campus with the newfound energy, excitement, and the will to start the second half of the academic year. The laughter, enthusiasm, and eager discussions that fill our hallways over the past few days seem like a fantastic reminder of the energizing culture that epitomizes Oakridge.
While looking forward, I anticipate July to be a busy month overflowing with beneficial learning activities and experiences across all grade levels.
Our students from Pre Nursery to Grade 12 were welcomed back on July 8. The first week is focused on reconnection, realignment, and resetting our objectives for the coming months.
We are also running an Oak Spirit week starting July 14 in the spirit of being creative, collaborating and developing pride in the school. There will be theme-based activities as well as team building assignments of a more entertaining nature as well as activities that encourage the student to express themselves and expound on their unity.
In line with our global principles, Oakridge shall commemorate Nelson Mandela Day and honour his legacy by contemplating compassion, justice, and service. The secondary segment shall be conducting a student-led morning assembly coupled with reflective on-stage activities.
Another event that many are looking forward to in this month is the Global University Fair which will bring under its wings, representatives of more than 60 accredited universities across the world. Oakridge as one of the best schools in Mohali will offer this amazing platform to experience first-hand the global admission officers, experience the broad range of academic opportunities, and receive personalized information to meet their expectations.
As the camp nears, the outstretched phases of the preparations of OAKMUN 2025, it is ready to host such a big event. An international platform where they can present their specific findings on both nationally and internationally important agendas, such as mental health equity, education vs. tradition, international security, policy reforms, and others. The anticipation is hanging in the air throughout several neighbouring states and schools, and we truly hope to see our learners put into the shoes of world leaders and indulge in the endeavour of diplomacy, critical thinking, and solution-forged dialogue. The registrations are open!
According to the IB model, to educate our PYP learners, the Inquiry Workshop of this year will seek to enable the qualities of questioning, exploration as well and critical thinking, aligned with the ongoing unit of inquiry, to enable them in the IB classrooms.
The spirit is set to go on even to the very last day of work in the month, when our students will have to witness an exercise of a fun-loving competition in order to beef up their vocabulary jar, where they will celebrate their word power, confidence, and communication.
