Update from the Principal’s Desk – May 2026
- 12 May 2026
Dear Oakridge Family,
As we move through the vibrant month of May, it has been a pleasure to witness our learners actively engaging in meaningful experiences that extend beyond the classroom, nurturing curiosity, confidence, and a spirit of inquiry.
The month commenced with the observance of May Day encouraging students to reflect on appreciation and community values. Over the past days, our learners have already benefitted from enriching engagements, including guest sessions and experiential learning opportunities that have added depth to their educational journey.
We also look forward to a series of thoughtfully planned activities that will continue to inspire learning and strengthen our community in the days ahead.
Key Highlights & Engagements
EYP and PYP students learned about real world experiences of visiting the Post Office, nearby farm, plant nursery, hospital, Capitol Complex, Science Museum, and Doll Museum to complement their learning with real-life experiences.
Grade 4 accomplished a great guest lecture to begin the session (4 May), and Nursery children are now ready for their own special guest (6 May). We are excited to host one of our parents to guide EYP1 in our session on emotions (13 May).
“Moving with Moms (Yoga) & Diving with Dads was a fun thing for the community and families.
The Nursery Red Colour Day (18 May) is all about the colours and creativity. As a part of the sensory themed celebration, we will be giving our youngest learners the chance to express their creativity.
Students will be provided with an opportunity to develop the good habit of reading and a love for books and written literature.
The end of the Term is a joyful occasion for students and we will be providing an opportunity to students to display their talents.
These conferences will provide a good opportunity for students, parents and teachers to reflect, appreciate and set future pursuits.
With an aim to build confidence, and skills such as teamwork, we are excited to announce our Summer Camp commencing 28 May with a variety of activities from football to skating, dance, music and swimming. After classroom activities, learning will be continued in a fun manner.
As always, I encourage our students to participate wholeheartedly, remain curious, and to continue to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. Let’s make this month rewarding and memorable for all.
