Dear Parents,
September at Oakridge Mohali has been an extraordinary month of learning, laughter, and community spirit. The classrooms extended beyond the walls, our students embraced new experiences, and our teachers stood to nurture them. Here’s a heartfelt look at the highlights of September.
As parents, we all dream of seeing our children thrive, not just in academics, but in life. We want them to be confident, compassionate, adaptable, and capable of navigating a world that is changing faster than ever before.
But how do you know if your child’s school is truly preparing them for the future?
While grades and examination results remain important, they are only one part of the bigger picture. The most impactful schools focus on developing the skills, mindset, and character traits that help students succeed in university, careers, and life beyond the classroom.
If you’re evaluating schools for your child, here are ten key pillars that indicate whether a school is genuinely preparing students for lifelong success.
This month, Oakridge welcomed Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) Rakesh Kumar Garg, Captain (Retd.) IAS Narinder Singh, and Amanpreet Singh Virk (Ex-PCS) for an inspiring interaction with our students. Through stories from their personal and professional journeys, they shared valuable lessons on leadership, honesty, responsibility, and perseverance. The session encouraged students to think thoughtfully about their choices, stay true to their values, and strive to make a positive difference in the world. Experiences like these enrich learning beyond the classroom and help shape confident, compassionate, and responsible young individuals.
UN International Day of Sign Languages
Students celebrated the UN International Day of Sign Languages, in a motivating inclusion event. Their teachers taught them the American Sign Language signs and they signed the alphabet. The activity opened their minds and hearts to the strength of communication that is not dependent on verbal communication- building empathy, respect, and global citizenship.
International Dot Day
Students celebrated International Dot Day in a creative manner. They were inspired by the motto, everything starts with a dot and created sketches and artworks which transformed every dot into a story, a dream or possibility. The exercise taught them to believe in themselves.
This month, we proudly celebrated our students’ remarkable achievements at the SOF and Netlas Olympiads, where they secured an impressive sweep of gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Medals were given to the following students: Afreen Sachdev, Sabreen K. Lidhar, Khushraj Singh Cheema, Sashreek Panda, Yuvraj Rana, Jugad Singh, Bakshish Singh, Avraj Singh, Sahbaz, Rushaan Singh Brar, Gulnaaz, Gunnaz Kaur, Achyut Krishna Om, Drihaan Rattan Bhardwaj, Ranveer Singla, Tanav Goyal, Avantika Sood, Zavian Dhiman, Lokavya, Siara.
This award-winning performance highlights the uncompromising academic excellence, innovative pedagogy, and global-oriented learning at the institution, and thus that of pride of place of Oakridge.
UN International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste
Our Secondary students initiated an aggressive campaign on food loss and waste. They spread awareness by use of posters, discussions, and interactive sessions with primary and secondary classes. They emphasized the concept of how to cut down on waste in the school and at the home front in a practical manner and taught us all that the process of becoming eco-friendly starts with small steps.
CAS Flood Relief Campaign
Under our CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) initiative, the school organised a Flood Relief Campaign to assist families in Punjab, severely affected by the natural disaster. Teachers also donated their Teacher Day incentives to the fund in a heart-warming gesture. Their unity and their compassion demonstrate to students that service begins at home, with thought and action.
Nursery Field Trip to Reliance Fresh
Our Nursery children had an exciting field trip to Reliance Fresh. They explored fruits, vegetables, dairy products and pulses—seeing, touching and smelling what they learn about in class. This hands-on experience helped them understand where their food comes from and sparked conversations about healthy eating.
Grade 4 Field Trip to Verka Milk Plant
Grade 4 students visited the Verka Milk Plant, witnessing firsthand how milk and milk products are processed and packaged. From pasteurisation to production lines of butter and ice cream, it was a fascinating learning experience that connected classroom concepts to real-world applications.
