Dear Parents,

September at Oakridge Mohali has been an extraordinary month of learning, laughter, and community spirit. The classrooms extended beyond the walls, our students embraced new experiences, and our teachers stood to nurture them. Here’s a heartfelt look at the highlights of September.

Celebrating 100 Days of Learning

Our youngest Oakridgers concluded their 100 magical days in Nursery with excitement and pride. This was not a day of numbers alone; it was a day of little milestones–little successes, of discoveries, which come to be summed up in one large adventure. Every child was given a keep-alive card to store the memories of these first 100 days with their individualized certificate, something to keep in their memory forever. Our Early Years corridors were full of colourful displays, creative activities, and happy faces, reminding us how far our little learners have come.

Helping Your Child Control Aggressive Behavior: Tips That Work

It’s evening. Your child is tired, hungry, and suddenly, the smallest thing sparks a storm of tears. Every parent knows the feeling — the rush of worry, frustration, and confusion when tantrums erupt at home. But these moments aren’t just “bad behaviour”; they’re windows into your child’s emotional world.

Why Kids Have Emotional Outbursts at Home

Children feel safest at home, which is why they often release the day’s bottled-up emotions once they’re back with family. Factors such as hunger, tiredness, screen time, or a sudden change in routine can intensify these reactions. Recognising these triggers is the first step to helping your child feel calmer and more secure.

 Grandparents’ Day

In September, our campus hosted some of our most important visitors: our grandparents. This was a wonderful day for Grandparents. It was a day of touching speeches and videos of children with their grandparents, of playing the guessing games about favourite movies, of vigorous ramp walks, dancing, and heartfelt songs. The visit of the grandparents to experience the same childhood memories when they bond with our students was a reminder that Oakridge is not just a school, but it is a family.

Virtual Teacher’s Day

Though this year’s Teacher’s Day celebrations were virtual, the emotions were anything but. Students wrote heartfelt poems and essays, sang songs and created videos to express their gratitude to their teachers. It was a moving display of respect and love, showing that appreciation transcends screens.

Progress Parade of EYP & Primary Years

Our Progress Parade of EYP 1 and 2, Grades 1 and 2, made it a rich display of creativity and learning. Students showed projects and performances demonstrating the way that inquiry and imagination supplement one another. Teachers and parents were delighted when our youngest learners told them about what they learned in classes, in which they interpreted the themes of classes, and it was indeed a celebration of progress.

UN International Day of Sign Languages

Students celebrated the UN International Day of Sign Languages, in a motivating inclusion event. Their teachers taught them the American Sign Language signs and they signed the alphabet. The activity opened their minds and hearts to the strength of communication that is not dependent on verbal communication- building empathy, respect, and global citizenship.

International Dot Day

Students celebrated International Dot Day in a creative manner. They were inspired by the motto, everything starts with a dot and created sketches and artworks which transformed every dot into a story, a dream or possibility. The exercise taught them to believe in themselves.
