Dear Parents,

As we step into another exciting month at Oakridge, I am delighted to share some of the many enriching experiences that have shaped our students’ learning journey. Each activity reflects our commitment to nurturing curious minds, fostering meaningful relationships, and developing compassionate global citizens.

From hands-on explorations and creative performances to real-world learning opportunities, our students continue to embrace every experience with enthusiasm, confidence, and a spirit of inquiry. It is truly inspiring to witness their growth as they collaborate, discover, and express themselves in ways that reflect the values of the IB learner profile.

I invite you to celebrate these memorable moments with us as we look back on a month filled with learning, achievement, and joyful exploration. Together, we remain committed to creating a vibrant learning community where every child feels empowered to learn, grow, and thrive.

Published Dreams

A proud milestone unfolded at Oakridge as Nitiksha from Grade 7B turned her passion for writing into a published achievement. What began as an idea on paper culminated in the publication of her very own book, which she recently showcased at an event in Bengaluru, selling 12 copies.

Making this accomplishment even more meaningful is the story behind it. Nitiksha dedicated the book to her maternal grandfather, whom she lost last year, transforming her work into a heartfelt tribute filled with love and remembrance.

Her journey from young writer to published author is a testament to creativity, perseverance, and the courage to share one’s voice with the world. We are incredibly proud of Nitiksha for this remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing where her literary journey takes her next.

Soaring in Patriotism

Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The hoisting of the flag by our Principal, Ms. Suman Kalra, marked the beginning of a patriotic morning. Secondary students performed motivating dances, speeches, and songs, sharing the message of freedom.

Also, our little Early and Primary Years learner left no stone unturned as they attired themselves in their aspiring role models, the freedom fighters, paying a tribute to their endless sacrifices.

The Early Years Progress Parade was truly a magical celebration of learning, growth, and confidence. Showcasing their inquiry-based learning journey, our young learners brought themes such as Sensory Organs, Sharing the Planet, and Role Models to life through engaging performances and creative presentations. With remarkable enthusiasm, they expressed their understanding through poetry, dance, and storytelling, demonstrating not only their knowledge but also their growing confidence and communication skills.

What made the event especially memorable was the ownership our little explorers took in the experience. From sharing their ideas to performing with confidence on stage, they displayed resilience, creativity, and collaboration throughout. It was a proud and heartwarming moment for both teachers and parents as self-esteem blossomed, tiny voices rang with confidence, and big imaginations captivated the audience. The Progress Parade beautifully reflected the spirit of the IB programme, where every child is encouraged to inquire, express, and shine in their own unique way.

Guest Lectures

Visionaries in Action

This month, our learners were inspired by two engaging guest speaker sessions. Ms. Raman Dhaliwal introduced Nursery learners to the exciting world of Colours and Shapes, helping them recognise patterns and colours in their everyday surroundings.

For EYP2, Dr. Ekta Makhija led an interactive session on Sharing the Planet, where learners explored wildlife, plants, and animals through engaging storytelling and a fun rapid-fire activity. The session sparked curiosity and encouraged children to appreciate and care for the natural world around them. Together, these enriching experiences fostered inquiry, creativity, and a deeper connection with the world they share.

Bonds beyond Wrist: CAS in Action
Learners of Grades 4 & 5 marked Raksha Bandhan with a heartwarming CAS initiative, tying bonds of care and compassion beyond the campus. They went to Prabh Asra to give the eco-friendly, handmade rakhis and groceries sharing smiles and adopting the spirit of community service and environmental responsibility.

These weren’t merely dress up days, but characterization, community, and civil artistry.

Our Social Cause

Small Steps, Big Impact

Our young IB learners continue to engage in meaningful hands-on learning and growing experiences beyond the classroom this month.

Nursery students had the opportunity to engage in learning out in nature on a trip to the Japanese Garden. They were able to walk through nature and look at flowers, and see the sounds and sights of nature. This helped them appreciate the environment and also helped them learn to spot details about their surroundings. This helped build appreciation and also brought lots of smiles and made them happy.

Learners in EYP 1 also had a learning trip to the local bakery. This was a chance for them to learn about baking. The learners were able to see the different stages of the baking process and learn about the different ingredients and the stages of the baking process. They were also able to learn about the different bakery products. All these experiences help learners appreciate and see the learning that they do happen outside of the classroom.

Our commitment remains on growing our learners to be inquisitive, confident and caring, and this will be achieved through authentic hands on learning experiences.
