Dear Parents,
As we enter yet another colorful month at Oakridge, I am delighted to share a preview of the exciting learning experiences and celebrations that lie ahead. Every activity is carefully designed to promote our vision of raising globally minded, confident, and compassionate learners.
Words that Win
Our young language wizards impressed with sharp memory, eloquence, and confidence on stage. The results were announced with much excitement, and the Spell Bee champions were proudly awarded for their brilliance.
Shivani’s Piano Triumph
Shivani soared us in immense pride with her global recognition achievement, acknowledging her talent and endurance.
The Milestone of Transition Every child experiences an important milestone in school life—moving from the playful early years to a stage where learning becomes more structured and purposeful. At Oakridge International School Mohali, this transition is not only a proud moment for the child but also for parents and teachers who nurture and guide them through this journey.
Our Janmashtami celebrations were a combination of culture and spiritual connection. Students presented the Radha-Krishna Leela, the importance and history of the birth of Lord Krishna, and his teachings through devotional songs and dance. A special attraction was the handcrafted clay Krishna on a swing created by a Grade 1 learner Girik Verma which made this auspicious day more special.
79th Independence Day
Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The hoisting of the flag by our Principal, Ms. Suman Kalra, marked the beginning of a patriotic morning. Secondary students performed motivating dances, speeches, and songs, sharing the message of freedom.
Also, our little Early and Primary Years learner left no stone unturned as they attired themselves in their aspiring role models, the freedom fighters, paying a tribute to their endless sacrifices.
Progress Parade
The EYP2 Progress Parade was nothing but magical, showcasing a jaw-dropping jungle-themed décor. An event that had our little explorers expressing their resilience by performing poetry and dances, all organized and directed by them. The moment was an honorable one to teachers and parents, as self-esteem blossomed and tiny voices and big imaginations went forth to fill the stage.
Threads of Care: CAS in Action
Learners of Grades 4 & 5 marked Raksha Bandhan with a heartwarming CAS initiative, tying bonds of care and compassion beyond the campus. They went to Prabh Asra to give the eco-friendly, handmade Rakhis- sharing smiles and adopting the spirit of community service and environmental responsibility.
These weren’t merely dress up days, but characterization, community, and civil artistry.
Eco Reflections
IT postgraduate Ms. Gurmanjot Kaur captivated our Grades 3 & 4 learners with an insightful session on Sharing the Planet. She helped children connect the dots between humans, plants, and animals while sparking conversations on sustainability. Learners walked away eager to protect the environment in small but meaningful ways.
Emotion Connect
Psychologist Ms. Supriya Nogal guided Grade 5 learners on a journey into their emotional world. Through relatable examples and interactive discussions, children learned how to recognize, express, and manage feelings. Many shared that the session made them feel “lighter” and more confident in understanding themselves.
Creative Hues
Nursery children had their imaginations lit up by Ms. Irneet Kaur, a Creative Director, who brought colours and shapes to life. With paints, props, and playful activities, she showed them how creativity can turn the simplest forms into magical stories. Giggles and messy little hands filled the room with joy.
Understanding Life Cycles
Grade 1 learners got a fascinating peek into science with Dr. Namrata Preet Kaur, a pediatric resident. Her session on Life Cycles helped children understand how living things grow and change, using examples they could relate to from their own lives. Curiosity buzzed as they shared observations and asked endless questions.
Decoding Human Senses
Specialist in Forensic Odontology, Dr. Anshika Dubey, engaged our EYP 1 learners in a lively talk about the Sense Organs. With fun demonstrations and child-led sharing, little ones discovered how their five senses help them experience the world. Their excitement was contagious as they tested what they had just learned.
Living Books, Lasting Lessons
In a unique storytelling initiative, parents became “living books” for our curious Grade 2 Oakridgers. They shared heartfelt migration journeys, painting vivid pictures of resilience, adaptation, and cultural diversity.
Learners walked away not just with stories, but with empathy, respect, and a deeper appreciation for the courage that fuels human experiences.
Roaring Adventures
Our EYP 2 learners set out on an animal adventure at Chattbir Zoo. Their excitement was palpable as they spotted tigers, bears, and colorful birds—turning classroom lessons on habitats into real-life encounters.
Empathy Beyond Walls
Grade 3 learners spent a heartfelt day at the Jyoti Sarup Kanya Asra Society. Through interactions and shared moments, they understood the importance of empathy, kindness, and giving back. It was a lesson in humanity that textbooks can’t teach.
Wings of Wonder
Grade 2 adventurers visited Chandigarh Bird Park, where science came alive through feathered wings and joyful chirps. Each observation turned into a discovery, making them more aware of the fragile beauty of our natural world.
