The Fashion Studies Exhibition – Miraki
- 6 May 2022
The Greek word Meraki means to do something with passion, with absolute devotion.
That’s exactly what reflected at the Fashion Studies exhibition ‘Meraki’ where the CBSE Grade 12 students of Fashion Studies presented their designs inspired by the ancient civilisations of the world with a modern touch into their ensembles.
The Meraki showcase was a culmination of a year-long journey into the fascinating world of fashion. The students worked tirelessly over a span of three weeks to bring this unique exhibition to life with an aim to inspire and encourage students to discover and express their inner creativity.
Groups of four students each took up the challenge of designing a garment inspired by the ancient civilisations of the world (Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Harappan) whilst also incorporating a modern touch into their ensembles. Detailed presentations from the teams outlining the creative process and research invested in designing their respective dresses and accompanying accessories drew the attention of parents, teachers and students alike. In addition to the exceptional outfits, products such as embroidered masks and tie and dye T-shirts from the students’ portfolios were put on display for the audience to appreciate.
Overall, Meraki proved to be a wholesome representation of the skills acquired by Fashion Studies students over the past year and the consistent support received from their teacher, Mrs. Kirti Mishra,
