Principal’s Desk Update – November 2023

  • 10 November 2023

Dear Parents,

November is a month of celebrations with Diwali being celebrated in all parts of our country. This festive is not just a traditional reminder of good winning over evil but a symbol of unity in community.

As we prepare to offer pooja, light our homes, exchange gifts and indulge in sweets with our friends and family I would like us to pause for a moment and notice the happening in our world. Apart of the world is facing a ragging war that has destroyed families and lives have been sniffed out in less than a second. We can no longer hang on to our simple belief that ‘good wins over evil’ as well as our lives are not dictated by experience that impact our ability to differentiate between the good and the evil. The definition of both has become murky and the line separating them erased. To negotiate this darkness outside we need to light the lamps of knowledge, wisdom, ethics and humanity within us.

The festival of Diwali must evolve to include the three steps to self-improvement – awareness, acceptance and allowance. The journey from recognising the need for change to manifesting it must be mindful and willing. Let us come together seeking truth and develop empathy, compassion and kindness towards the nation of a peaceful world. The war, a symbol of darkness that feeds on ego, hatred, aggression, possession and mistrust can only be won over the light of love, trust and equality.

Wish you and your family a very happy Diwali.

Warm Regards
