Update from the Principal’s Desk : September 2024
- 3 September 2024
“Our diverse backgrounds create a shared strength that enriches all of humanity. Ultimately, there is only one boundary in this world, and that is our shared humanity.”
Reflecting on the vibrant month of August, we can’t help but beam with pride at our students’ extraordinary accomplishments! From stepping into leadership roles within the Student Council to excelling in academics, sports, and meaningful social initiatives, their commitment to growth and excellence has truly inspired us. Their enthusiastic participation in events like the Oakridge MUN and the Global University Expo highlighted their determination and ambition.
Equally uplifting was the strong sense of community we cultivated together. Our Independence Day celebration, the heartfelt Rakhi initiative, and the enjoyable Coffee Morning with parents showcased the values that unite us. These shared moments of connection and collaboration enriched our school culture, reinforcing our collective dedication to nurturing thoughtful, compassionate leaders.
We invited parents to join us for a Coffee Morning, where we discussed important agenda items and collaboratively formulated plans for the upcoming school year. This informal gathering provided a valuable opportunity for open dialogue, allowing us to strengthen our partnership in supporting our students’ success. Through every interaction, we strengthened our bonds, creating an inclusive environment where every voice was valued and heard.
The recent assessment days provided an opportunity for students and parents to engage in meaningful discussions about academic progress and future goals. Following the Grade 10 Parent-Teacher Meeting (AEM), feedback was gathered to enhance support strategies for students as they prepare for the next set of Assessments. Parents can play a crucial role by encouraging their children to review feedback from assessments, fostering a positive study environment at home, and maintaining open communication with teachers to address any challenges their children may face.
The recent review meeting of teachers served as an essential platform for educators to come together and collaboratively evaluate student progress and performance. During the meeting, teachers shared insights on effective teaching strategies, discussed challenges faced in the classroom, and exchanged best practices that have proven successful. By reflecting on past successes and areas for improvement, the meeting reinforced the commitment of our educators to provide high-quality education and support for every student in the school.
A fire drill and lockdown drill were successfully conducted at the school to enhance safety preparedness among students and staff. The lockdown drill, allowed participants to practice securing classrooms and following emergency protocols, reinforcing the importance of readiness in case of real emergencies. During the fire drill, students were instructed to evacuate calmly and quickly to the designated assembly area, where attendance was taken to ensure everyone was accounted for.
Please note Student ID issued to your ward is embedded with RFID Chip and carrying the Student ID Card is mandatory to access school services, including lunch and transportation.

I recently had the privilege of attending the launch of “Shomie Das: The Man Who Saw Tomorrow,” a tribute authored by Naga Tummala, one of the founders of Oakridge International School. The book beautifully encapsulates the enduring legacy of Mr. Shomie Das, whose visionary mentorship has profoundly influenced education across prestigious institutions, including Oakridge. As we reflect on the remarkable journey that Oakridge has undertaken—from its inception under the guidance of our founders to its current status as a part of the Nord Anglia Education family—this book serves as a reminder of the values and vision that continue to guide us. The evening was not just a celebration of a book, but also of the lasting impact of a mentor whose foresight helped shape what Oakridge has become today. It was a true honor to be part of this memorable occasion, reconnecting with colleagues and reflecting on the legacy that continues to inspire our community.
