Update from the Principal’s Desk | February 2025

  • 5 February 2025

‘As we embrace this transformative month, it unfolds as a pivotal time for visionaries to ignite lasting change and turn aspirations into reality.’

The current timeframe is characterized by a flurry of school activities and the demands of busy schedules, often referred to in educational circles as “hitting the wall month.” With such a packed calendar, it is vital for students to find a balance between their hectic lives and necessary rest, alongside maintaining proper nutrition. This balance is essential for staying active and keeping up with academic responsibilities.

At Oakridge International School, Bachupally, the focus remains on holistic development, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also engage in extracurricular activities that foster personal growth and community involvement.

Oakridge was nothing short of dynamic, with an array of events that kept the community vibrant and engaged. From Parent-Teacher Meetings and Three-Way Conferences and  Guest Lectures to Field Trips and the Affinity Club Showcase, there was no shortage of excitement. Highlights included the Parent Orientation Programme, MIT and STEAM Showcase, Academic Excellence Awards, and the unforgettable – exploring the colours of Gujarat – where culture, history, and adventure meet! A truly exceptional month that kept the Oakridge spirit alive and strong.

At Oakridge International School, Bachupally, the vibrant essence of Sankranti filled the campus as students celebrated with creativity and joy. Activities included colourful rangolis, and kite flying, fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride.

Simultaneously, the STEAM Fest allowed students to tackle real-world challenges through hands-on activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. They created prototypes and showcased their problem-solving skills, making learning engaging and fun. Together, these events highlighted the school’s commitment to blending cultural traditions with innovative education.

During the Sankranti break, Oakridgers from Grades 4 to 9, 11, and DP1 embarked on an exciting exploration of Gujarat. Their journey took them from the historic Sabarmati Ashram to the breathtaking Statue of Unity, culminating in the tranquil beauty of the Rann of Kutch. This trip seamlessly blended history, culture, and discovery, offering students a rich tapestry of experiences that broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of India’s diverse heritage.

Oakridge International School celebrated academic excellence through its Academic Excellence Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements across all grades and honouring students for their exceptional performance and highlighting individual accomplishments.

Oakridge students engaged in meaningful community service activities, where students shared gifts and laughter at The Nest old age home, learning the joy of giving. Meanwhile, CAIE students in Grades 6–10 organized a donation drive, collecting essentials for Sneha Sadan, a home for children, reflecting their commitment to compassion and social responsibility.

Professional development (PD) sessions at our school incorporate mental well-being as a core component, focusing on equipping teachers with strategies to manage stress and enhance emotional health. These sessions emphasize mindfulness practices, self-care techniques, and social-emotional learning to foster a supportive environment.

Continuing with the efforts to strengthen the growth of our school, I am pleased to welcome Mr. Vivek Mandal, as our Head of International Curriculum for Oakridge International School, Bachupally. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Vivek to his new role. I am sure he will make a significant contribution to our growth in Hyderabad and India.

Please be informed that Ms. Ms Srilakshmi Balakrishnan, our DPC has decided to move on. We wish her all the very best for her future endeavours.

As we venture into this extraordinary year, we eagerly anticipate even greater accomplishments and milestones on our collective journey towards excellence.
