Update from the Principal’s Desk – October

  • 16 October 2025

Dear Parents,

As we return from the Dussehra break, I am delighted to share some wonderful news that makes this festive season even more special. Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam, has been ranked the No. 1 International Day-cum-Boarding School in Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam, and 13th in India by EducationWorld India School Rankings 2025-26. We are also proud to be ranked No. 1 in Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam and No. 7 in India for Community and Social Impact, a recognition that celebrates the spirit of purpose and compassion that defines our school community.

Our students from Grades 9 to 12 have been engaged in internships across the fields of medicine and finance, gaining early exposure to professional environments and practical insights into career paths they may one day pursue.

Meanwhile, our students from Grades 4 to 12 recently returned from their National Trip to Ahmedabad and Vadodara. They explored history and culture through immersive experiences that reminded us that some of the most meaningful lessons happen beyond the classroom.

This month, as we observe World Mental Health Day, our Student Counsellor is leading a Mental Health Week with activities across grades to encourage mindfulness, gratitude, and awareness. The focus is on helping students recognise that it is okay to ask for help and that support is always available.

We are also celebrating D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Week, an annual tradition that inspires our young learners to embrace the joy of reading. The week will feature a book fair, storytelling sessions, author talks, book donation drives, and competitions, making reading a shared celebration across the campus.

On 17 October, our IBDP Class of 2026 will host a Fundraiser as part of their CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project. We invite all parents to come forward and support this meaningful student-led initiative.

The much-awaited OISV MUN Chapter III will be held on 31 October, 1 and 2 November, bringing together students from Grades 8 to 12. At OISV MUN, our young delegates will step into the roles of global leaders, engaging in debate, diplomacy, and dialogue on some of the most pressing issues of our time.

Following that, Sports Week will take place from 4 to 7 November, featuring competitions across taekwondo, swimming, lawn tennis, basketball, football, and cricket. We warmly invite our parents to join us in celebrating the athletic spirit and teamwork of our students.

As the festival season continues, I wish you and your families a joyful, safe, and green Diwali in advance. May the months ahead bring continued success, happiness, and learning for all our Oakridgers.

Warm regards,
Shaila Bhamidipati
