Dear Parents
July brought together several aspects of learning and student life at Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam. From academic milestones and student leadership to sports, arts, field experiences, and clubs, the month reflected our focus on developing learners who can think independently, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for their choices.
We also continued to focus on student wellbeing and safety through safeguarding initiatives, counselling sessions, and age-appropriate conversations. For our Early Years learners, learning continued through stories, activities, celebrations, and experiences that helped them understand themselves and the world around them.
As we look ahead, our focus remains on building a school community where academic learning, personal development, student voice, wellbeing, and future readiness work together.
Warm regards

IBDP Class of 2026 Results
The IBDP results for the Class of 2026 marked an important milestone for our senior students.
At Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam, students were recognised for their performance in the IBDP and for securing university opportunities in India and around the world. The results represent the work students have put into their learning throughout the programme and the support provided by their teachers and families.
As our graduates move towards higher education, they carry with them the skills of inquiry, reflection, communication, and independent thinking developed through the IBDP.
CBSE Grade 10 Results
The CBSE Grade 10 Board Examination results provided another opportunity to recognise the work of our students. The results reflect the preparation undertaken throughout the academic year, along with the guidance of teachers and support from families.
For students moving into the next stage of school, the completion of Grade 10 marks the beginning of new academic choices and areas of exploration. At Oakridge Visakhapatnam, students can continue to develop their interests while preparing for senior secondary education and future university pathways.
Connecting Students With University Pathways
The University Fair brought together universities from India and around the world, giving students and parents an opportunity to explore higher education options under one roof.
Students could interact with university representatives, learn about courses and admissions, explore scholarships, and understand different career pathways. Events such as the University Fair complement our career counselling and help students and parents make informed decisions about higher education.
Learning Through Questions: Theory of Knowledge Exhibition
The IBDP Theory of Knowledge Exhibition, Ekatvam, brought together students, teachers, and parents to explore the ways in which knowledge is shaped by experience, culture, evidence, and perspective.
Students selected objects and connected them with questions about knowledge, encouraging visitors to consider how we understand what we know. The exhibition created opportunities for discussion and reflection and demonstrated the role of inquiry within the IBDP.
The experience reinforced an important part of learning at Oakridge International School: asking questions can be as important as finding answers.
Recognising Student Progress at Prize Day
Annual Prize Day brought the school community together to recognise student achievements from the previous academic year. Awards acknowledged academic performance, participation, and progress across different areas of school life.
The occasion also provided an opportunity to recognise the effort that goes into learning every day. Students progress at different rates and through different paths, and each stage of that journey contributes to their development.
Student Voice and Leadership
Student leadership took centre stage in July through the selection of the student prefect body. Students from the primary and secondary segments participated in a process involving interviews, campaigns, and elections before taking on leadership responsibilities.
The process gave students an opportunity to communicate their ideas, engage with their peers, and understand the responsibilities that come with representing the student community.
Model United Nations: Learning Diplomacy Through Practice
Oakridge Visakhapatnam Model United Nations brought students together to explore diplomacy, international relations, public speaking, and negotiation.
This gives students the opportunity to research issues, represent different perspectives, participate in committee discussions, and work towards resolutions. Through this process, students develop communication, collaboration, research and critical thinking skills.
MUN also provides a setting where students can engage with viewpoints that may differ from their own and learn to communicate their position with clarity and respect.
MUN Club Inauguration
The MUN Club was inaugurated for students from Grades 7 to 12, giving them a platform to explore diplomacy, international relations, public speaking and negotiation.
Through the club, students will engage with global issues, research different perspectives, participate in structured discussions and develop their ability to present and defend ideas. The programme also supports leadership, collaboration, critical thinking and effective communication, helping students build skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Extended Learning Programme
The school’s Extended Learning Programme offers students opportunities beyond regular classroom hours, with activities including basketball, cricket, swimming, football, and taekwondo for students from Grade 3 onwards.
These programmes form part of the wider learning experience at Oakridge International School, where students can explore interests across academics, sports, arts, and other activities.
Icebreaker Trip: Building Connections at the Start of a New Chapter
The Icebreaker Trip brought together Grade 11 and IBDP 1 students as they began an important new stage of their school journey.
The experience was designed to help students get to know one another, build relationships, and develop a sense of belonging within their new cohorts. Through outdoor activities, shared challenges, and practical survival experiences, students had opportunities to work together, communicate, and support one another.
Beyond the activities, the trip encouraged students to step outside familiar routines, take on new challenges, and develop skills in collaboration, resilience, and leadership.
Field Trips: Learning Beyond the Classroom
Students stepped outside the classroom through a series of field trips designed to connect academic learning with real-world experiences.
Visits to the zoo gave students opportunities to observe animals and understand concepts related to wildlife and conservation. A visit to GIMSR Medical College introduced students to anatomy and helped them connect their classroom learning with medical education and practice. Students also visited the Jindal Urban Waste Management Visakhapatnam Limited plant to understand how waste is processed and managed and to explore the role of responsible waste management in urban communities.
These experiences helped students observe processes, ask questions and understand how concepts taught in school connect with the world around them.
Guest Lectures: Learning From Different Perspectives
A series of guest lectures gave students opportunities to learn from professionals and subject experts across areas connected to health, wellbeing, science, and social responsibility.
These interactions allowed students to explore topics beyond their regular curriculum and understand how different areas of knowledge apply to everyday life.
Guest sessions also encouraged students to ask questions, engage in discussion, and build awareness around subjects that contribute to informed and responsible decision-making.
Natyaravali: Celebrating Dance and Cultural Expression
Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam, participated in the 37th All India Natyaravali Dance Competition, which brought together 140 students across institutions.
A group of 24 students represented the school in solo and group categories, participating in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, semi-classical, folk dance and Kathak.
The school received recognition across several categories, with students securing prizes and commendations in the solo competitions and group dance events. The results included multiple first, second and third prizes, along with consolation prizes and a jury award.
Participation in Natyaravali gave students an opportunity to present their training on a competitive platform while developing discipline, stage presence, preparation, and an understanding of Indian dance traditions.
Rangotsav: Encouraging Creativity Through Art
Students also participated in Rangotsav, a competition focused on bringing art and creativity into educational spaces. The programme provides students with opportunities to explore different forms of artistic expression while developing confidence and creative thinking.
This year, 105 students from the school secured distinctions across various categories. Their participation reflected the range of artistic interests within the student community and the work that goes into developing creative skills alongside academic learning.
Building a Culture of Safety and Wellbeing
Student safety and wellbeing remain an important part of school life. Staff participated in safeguarding sessions covering areas such as POSH and POCSO, strengthening awareness of responsibilities related to student protection.
Our student counsellor conducted wellbeing sessions across different age groups. Early Years and Primary students explored safe people, inclusion, kindness, and the difference between safe and unsafe touch. Secondary students explored interpersonal relationships, boundaries, and effective communication.
These conversations are part of the school’s ongoing approach to helping students understand safety, relationships, communication, and personal responsibility.
Learning with the Principal
Students in Grade 9 participated in a session led by our principal, focused on the role of science in everyday life. The discussion encouraged students to consider how scientific thinking connects with the world around them and how science influences everyday decisions, technology, and society.
Sessions such as these provide opportunities for students to engage with ideas beyond their regular lessons and connect academic subjects with real-life contexts.
Early Years: Learning Through Experience
Our Early Years learners explored World Nature Conservation Day, International Tiger Day, World Elephant Day, and Friendship Day through stories, art, movement, and classroom conversations.
The experiences encouraged children to learn about wildlife, nature, kindness, and friendship while developing communication, observation, and social skills.
Early Years learning at Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam, continues to focus on giving young learners opportunities to explore concepts through age-appropriate activities and experiences.
Pajama Party: A Morning of Fun and Connection
Our Early Years learners enjoyed a Pajama Party that brought together play, interaction and shared experiences in a relaxed setting.
Dressed in their favourite nightwear, the children took part in age-appropriate activities and enjoyed spending time with their classmates. The experience gave them an opportunity to interact in a different setting while building social skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging within their classroom community.
Spin a Yarn: Finding Voice Through Storytelling
Spin a Yarn gave students an opportunity to explore storytelling and develop their communication skills through a dedicated storytelling competition.
Students worked on presenting stories with attention to expression, voice, sequence and delivery. The competition encouraged them to think creatively about how stories can be structured and communicated to an audience.
Beyond the competition, the activity provided a platform for students to build confidence in public speaking, strengthen their imagination, and discover different ways of expressing ideas through storytelling.
Boarding Life
Boarding students continued to participate in outings, clubs and activities that support social interaction, independence, and life skills.
Monthly outings gave students opportunities to spend time with their mentors and peers outside the school campus. Visits to local entertainment and retail spaces provided time for recreation and social interaction while strengthening mentor-student relationships.
Boarding clubs covered a range of interests. Students explored robotics through practical work with circuits, digital multimeters, soldering and Arduino-based projects. Chess sessions focused on strategy and game analysis, while Public Speaking Club introduced students to communication, confidence and active listening.
Creative activities included doodling, mandala art, and paper quilling and Cooking Club introduced students to basic food preparation. These activities encouraged students to work together while developing practical skills that support greater independence.
