Dear Parents

At Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam, boarding is not just a place where students stay. It is where they learn how to live, grow, and belong.

Our philosophy, Belonging at Heart, Skills for Life, shapes every aspect of boarding life. We focus on building confident communicators, independent thinkers, and individuals who understand responsibility. From managing their daily routines to engaging meaningfully with peers, students gradually develop essential life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

This month’s experiences reflect that journey. Whether it is through structured prep time, shared celebrations, creative exploration, or time spent outdoors, every moment contributes to a balanced development. Academic success remains a priority, but it is supported by self-management, collaboration, and emotional wellbeing.

As you read through April’s highlights, you will see how boarding continues to nurture not just students, but capable young individuals ready to take on the world.

Warm regards
Shaila Bhamidipati

Monthly Outings

The outings gave students a chance to step beyond the campus and experience the world around them in a relaxed and engaging setting. These outings are designed to build independence and social awareness.

Students made choices, managed time, and interacted with their peers in a different environment. It was not just about recreation, but about learning how to navigate spaces, make decisions, and build confidence outside structured school settings. The laughter and conversations that followed reflected a deeper sense of connection among the group.

Clubs: Exploring Interests and Building Skills

Boarding clubs continued to be a space where students discovered new interests and strengthened existing ones.

In Art Club, creativity came alive through thoughtful expression and experimentation. Cooking Club saw students step into the kitchen, learning basic culinary skills while understanding teamwork and responsibility. Dance brought energy and rhythm into the boarding, helping students express themselves with confidence. Chess Club encouraged strategic thinking and patience, while Movie Club created opportunities for reflection and discussions.

Fitness and Sports: Building Strength and Routine

Daily morning and evening fitness sessions remained a consistent part of boarding life. From structured exercises to sports like cricket, cycling, and basketball, students actively engaged in maintaining their physical health.

These sessions go beyond fitness. They instil discipline, resilience, and the importance of consistency.

Celebrating Sashank: Moments That Feel Like Home

Birthdays in boarding are always special, and Sashank’s celebration was no different. Surrounded by friends, the day was filled with warmth, laughter, and shared joy.

These moments remind students that boarding is not just a structured environment but a space where they are cared for and valued. Celebrations like these strengthen bonds and create memories that stay with them long after their school years.

Prep Time: Guided Academic Focus

Structured prep time continued to play a crucial role in supporting students academically. With guidance from mentors, students approached their studies with greater clarity and discipline.

This dedicated time allowed them to ask questions, strengthen concepts, and build effective study habits. Over time, students are learning how to manage their workload independently, an essential skill for long-term academic success.
