Principal Letter – May 2022

  • 10 May 2022

Greetings!!! As the academic year comes to a close, in the warmth of the sun that brightens the days with its blaze, it’s time for our students to have a break. It was an awesome year with a mix of fear, success, challenges, and achievements. The accolades this year are those which are won from the hard work, perseverance, grit, and resilience of our students. They are the ones who have stood the test of time and proved themselves to the generations of this fast pacing world. We are proud of our students and we are ready to equip ourselves to lead them through this volatile and uncertain world.

Glimpses into the happenings of April

Graduation Day of Early Years, Grade 5 IB PYP, and Grade 5 Cambridge Primary were held to celebrate student accomplishments and the exciting things that lay ahead in their future. The momentous occasion was witnessed by the Oakridge family as every child carried their VISA (V-they value for, I- their Inspiration, S- Skilled at, and A – Aspire to be) to fly off to middle school.

As every child’s VISA was presented, many of the parents were emotional and, according to a parent, “We thought that my child lost a goal during this virtual learning but when I saw his aspiration to become an NIA officer, I felt my child was not lost. Thanks to the school management and teachers for bringing back the zeal and letting me know that my child is more focused than me.” The ceremony evoked mixed feelings of pleasure and pain and left an indelible mark on the pages of Oakridge ephemera. Congratulations to all the Grads! You inherit a world that proves progress is possible!

Oakridge Bachupally was sprawling with activity as our Grade 5 learners marched ahead on their learning journey with ‘Graduation day’ on April 9.

It was great to see parents joining in for the event and making it a memorable one.

Our young teenagers of Grade 10 of CAIE and CBSE had their Year-end celebrations on 20th April 2022. It was a day for them to understand their past achievements, realize what’s in store for them in the present and get ready to face the future. Dressed in formals, our students showed themselves to be smart young men and beautiful ladies who will fly to the uttermost parts of the world as Oakridgers and keep the school flag flying high. Brimming with happiness and minds and hearts overwhelmed, they expressed themselves to be the happiest and most confident students to enter this world.

Children have started the much-awaited board exams on May 1st week. All our good wishes to each of them and wish to see them come out in flying colors.

Classes 6 to 9 and 11 completed their final Assessments and we declared the Academic Excellence awards for the academic year 2021-2022. It was after two years that the ceremony took place physically in our auditorium. Students were excited about receiving their awards in hand from the Principal and the coordinators, which was a time to cherish forever. Truly a momentous occasion for the students and also for the teaching fraternity.

Oakridge Readiness Program, a virtual bonding session for new students was conducted across the grades. They interact with teachers and other students, this process is fun and activities oriented.

Rewards & Recognition for our Facilitators

The staff of OISB was also awarded for their achievements during the year, their extra miles were recognized and their hard work and perseverance were awarded. It was a time of awe and wonder of being a part of Oakridge, Bachupally, as it has never left any of the staff working on the campus without recognition of their work.

Oakridge not only caters to the needs of the students but also allows both the academic and admin staff to ease themselves from the routine. We had a time of bonding, appreciation, and expression of talents at ‘Hyatt’ Gachibowli on the last working day. All the staff tapped their toes to the rhythm of the songs played. They had a great time presenting their talents, lots of fun and laughter, and a sumptuous lunch that followed. Indeed!!! It was a great event of joy after which we bade goodbye to each other for a well-deserved summer break.

Preparation for Academic Year 2022-2023

We are pleased to announce that we have got an excellent response to our re-enrollment letters across the school and we had 400 + new admissions for the academic year 2022-2023 to date. We thank all the parents for being valuable members of our OISB community and sharing your child’s educational journey with us.

At the time when the academic staff and students are on vacation, the admin team is striving to meet the demands of the stakeholders in the next academic year. Setting up the infrastructure, painting work of a few blocks, spaces for IBDP, EY play area, resources for various departments, and maintenance work is in progress.

Kudos to the Admin Staff, who work tirelessly and relentlessly to make Oakridge a beautiful and congenial place for study.

We will be having a three-day conference for all staff which will be conducted in the last week of May. The main emphasis of the session will be on ‘Staying Ahead’. The conference would primarily focus on School’s Purpose and its Impact on our preparedness post-pandemic, Quality of teaching and learning will be analyzed, embedding NAE education strategies in teaching and learning and implementing  Coaching Culture Across the School would be discussed. Leveraging Technology in the Classroom through Augmented reality and Virtual reality will be considered. The conference would also focus on Safeguarding & well-being and how well equipped we are to adapt to these challenging times to gain an edge over the competition.

The school will reopen in the first week of June for the students. It will be completely physical and we would love to see all our students back in our classes. Please refer to the document for the reopening dates of Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary.

We expect them with rejuvenated spirits to revive their lost learning and prove themselves stalwarts of the present times. The Calendar and the New Educational Initiatives will be shared with you all in the next month’s Newsletter. We are all geared up for a lot of fun-filled activities to learn, unlearn and relearn the concepts. Hope to see our students bright with smiles to be with us!

We would like to emphasize the fact that students must attend school in complete uniform. It is a mandate. The Uniform and Books must be procured by May 15th, 2022 positively to give students the motivation to attend school completely. We also would like to receive your consent for transport and lunch at school by May 15th, 2022, so that there is a seamless movement of students.

Our students need a well-deserved break after all that they had to adapt to, for the last two years. The greatest legacy that we can leave for our children is ‘Happy Memories’. I am sure our students will have lots of memories to carry forward and share with their friends and teachers after the vacation. This is the time when students move into a mode of imagination, creativity, visualization, and awe. Let’s together make their lives happier and more meaningful. Hope to see them back safe and happier than ever!
