PRINCIPAL LETTER – MARCH 2023

February is the month of lasting change- February is for doers – Let us look at the February 2023 edition, at Oakridge Bachupally

Welcome to the short month of February; even with February being the shortest month, it’s the time of the year when life gets hectic as school and activities are in maximum overdrive.

January was a testimony to various activities aimed at helping our students learn interactively. In keeping with the trend, February served us a platter of distinguished activities, student-led events, sports, dance, and drama. Experiential learning through field trips contributed to student engagement, deeper learning, improved academic outcomes and enhanced work and life skills.

These pioneering events not only aided in co – construction of ideas but also shined out as trailblazers.

The enthusiasm from the parents was well received as everyone eagerly participated in our school events and helped make it so much more collaborative.  On this note, a word of gratitude to all the parents for the extended cooperation and prompt response and action needed to help our students thrive in this eventful time.

Let’s take a walk down the February – lane:

The month hosted a plethora of events – Gallery Walks, Musical extravaganza, Field Trips, PYP Exhibition, Parent Orientation Programme to MIT Showcase, Oakpreneur, Intramural Competitions, Jungle Safari. A phenomenal month that kept the Oakridgers exalted and euphoric.

Trailblazers

The MIT and STEAM showcase by the Cambridge Primary segment was one of its kind – A combination of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics that led students to find creative solutions to real-world problems. Each project encouraged exploration, modification, and students to pursue their own ideas and curiosities.

Oakpreneur ’23, our maiden transformative commerce fest showcasing students’ creativity and business acumen through presentations, marketing role-play, and discussions.

New experiences create new background for our dreams.

The passion for global issues was evident at the GP and Science Fest, where our CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) learners displayed their tackling topics ranging from climate action to economic inequalities to affordable and clean energy solutions. Bringing the outside world into the classroom with their knowledge, creativity, and dedication to a more sustainable future were evident in their presentations. The various perspectives on globalization, and the sweeping political, economic, and cultural changes that are taking place as a result of the migration and natural disasters.

Feel the Rhythm – The Musical Extravaganza

Grade 1 students brought ‘The Tales of Wonderland – Pinocchio to life in a musical extravaganza. It was a spectacularly beautiful vision as our tiny tots grooved to splendid tunes. The parents were thrilled as they enjoyed the medley of music, dance, and drama.

On day 2, the audience were smitten by the stupendous performances in the dance drama – “Rainbow Fish’. The musical theatre fostered a social awareness through exposure to the social issues, events and cultures that are portrayed in the scripts. These very things help students to develop an ability to understand works of literature, performance, and expression in general.

You can do it if you can! – EPTRI EIACP

EPTRI EIACP created awareness on #MissionLiFE#ChooseLiFE among Oakridge International School, Bachupally students of grade IX as a part of EPTRI EIACP. The educational tour was organized to expand their knowledge on various environmental issues. The 9th graders of CAIE were creatively engaged in eco-sessions on climate change, disaster management and sustainable development.

Every Act is an Expression in itself– PYP exhibition – a culmination of values, beliefs, engagement, opportunity, and self- reflection.

The theme of Oakridge International School Bachupally PYP exhibition this year focuses on “How we express ourselves” with groups presenting their learning through beautiful and creative models and presentations. Expressing oneself and being true to oneself is highly imperative for teenagers in today’s world, as it helps to develop a sense of identity, self-esteem, and confidence. It is certainly important to appreciate and honour our uniqueness and express ourselves in the best possible manner. In today’s date, when we get influenced by what others are doing and join in the rat-race of following the trends, take a minute and pause for a while, break the barriers of the worldly norms, and express your true self.

Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today – University Fair

Our students recently had the chance to explore their academic paths at our University Fair. They got to interact with top university delegates from the USA and Hong Kong and learn about the exciting options for higher education. The chance to meet universities face to face, by interacting with official representatives and alumni, is a key benefit of university events. Create Your Future with Oakridge Bachupally!

Sustainable development requires Human Genuity – People are the most important resource

IBDP Students took on the challenge of building a sustainable city:

Our DP1 students explored various ideas on sustainability for their IBDP Group 4 Project. After months of planning and designing, these first-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Program students developed five products with a theme in mind: “The Sustainable Cities” as part of their Group 4 project.

The projects ranged from Bio-wraps- a naturally made plastic that is one hundred percent biodegradable, Sustainablock – sustainably made cement, manufactured through recycling coconuts to making organic batteries with aloe vera through their product EcoCel, AquaGenie – a grey water recycling irrigation system using a moisture sensor and Solarsprout – an integrated solar irrigation system.

The students collaborated across the four science subjects, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science, to solve real-world issues. The Group 4 Project is a testament to the IBDP’s commitment to fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. It provided them with a unique opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to real-world issues and to develop the skills they need to become effective global citizens.

Group 4 was more than just a project; it was a truly rewarding journey.

A phenomenal experience!

Sports – A preserver of health – to be physically loose and mentally tight!

Intramurals are an opportunity for students to compete against their classmates in various sports. It is open to all students. The Intramural Competition provided opportunities for every individual, regardless of ability, to participate in a sport activity that will develop skill and interest in a friendly, recreation-centred environment.

Taekwondo belt test is an evaluated students within individual martial art systems often undergo periodic testing and grading by their own teacher to advance to a higher level of recognized achievement.

Significant events in our past can provide insight into your values, beliefs, interests, strengths, and dreams. Thinking beyond the box about what qualifies and reviewing the basic steps to processing oneself to achieve the result, is a remarkable feat. These experiences stand out because of how they made us feel: good, satisfied, engaged, energized, or inspired.

A combination of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics led students to find creative solutions to real-world problems. This included arts and literature to make it more well-rounded so children could understand how the world works around them early on for future success.
