TEDxOakridge 2026

Beyond Perception

Ideas have the power to challenge assumptions, shift perspectives, and inspire change. With this spirit, TEDxOakridge Intl School Vizag Youth presents “Beyond Perception”, an initiative designed to create a transformative platform for ideas, dialogue, curiosity, and innovation. The theme “Beyond Perception” invites the Oakridge community to look beyond the familiar, question established perspectives and discover new ways of understanding the world. The initiative aims to encourage meaningful dialogue, critical thinking, student leadership, community engagement, and action through ideas that matter.

Through a compelling collection of ideas and personal stories, our speakers take us beyond the familiar—from breakthrough health technologies and the possibilities of regenerative medicine to the assumptions that shape how we see people, potential and progress. We explore life beyond first impressions through the intersecting perspectives of a woman, doctor and mother; challenge conventional ideas around gender in sport; and encounter stories that reveal how changing the way we perceive something can change what we believe is possible. Across science, identity, society and lived experience, each talk offers a different lens—but shares one invitation: to look beyond the obvious, question the boundaries we take for granted, and discover what lies beyond perception.

At the heart of the event is student agency and leadership. Students are involved in diverse aspects of planning and execution, including design, production, technology, event management, registration, branding, and audience engagement. The event is envisioned as an engaging experience featuring TEDx talks alongside opportunities for networking, reflection, and audience interaction. Students from Grades 9 to 12 and parents across grades and campuses form part of the invited audience, extending the conversation across the Oakridge community.

Ultimately, “Beyond Perception” is more than a theme. It is an invitation to remain curious, listen to diverse voices, challenge assumptions, and recognise the possibilities that emerge when we choose to see differently.
