August has been a month of learning, leadership and looking ahead at Oakridge Gachibowli. From the inspiring ideas and conversations at TEDx to the Investiture Ceremonies for our Senior and Junior School leaders, our students have had opportunities to step up, take leadership. As our CBSE students begin their Term 1 examinations, academic focus remains at the heart of the month. At the same time, visits from leading international universities have brought avenues to our students, helping them understand the opportunities that lie beyond school. With university counselling now in full swing, we are working closely with our students to understand their aspirations and create personal timelines to ensure successful offers. It is encouraging to see our students balancing academic rigour, leadership and exploration as they prepare for what comes next. The Senior Investiture Ceremony 2026-27 marked a significant milestone in the academic year as the newly elected Student Council officially assumed their leadership roles. The ceremony celebrated the formation of the student council and recognised students who embody leadership based on trust and accountability. A proud highlight of the event was the appointment of Aditya Sunkara as School Captain, supported by Srijai Kodali and Aatish Erra as School Vice Captains. Along with the newly elected council members, they received their badges and took an oath to lead with integrity, responsibility, and compassion. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all members of the Student Council 2026-27 and wish them a rewarding year ahead as they lead with confidence, purpose, and empathy.
TEDx 2026 brought together inspiring voices under the theme “Beyond the Binary”, encouraging audiences to challenge conventional thinking and explore new perspectives. The event featured student speakers Reyaan (DP2, OISG), Aripra Sharma (DP1, CHIREC), Sree Naithik Reddy (MYP 5, OISG), and Saisha (DP2, UWC ISAK, Japan), alongside guest speakers Dr Ramya Sri Guturu, psychologist and magician, and Mr Muhammed Madani, entrepreneur. The programme was graced by Guest of Honour Mr S. Thaman and concluded with a captivating musical performance by Oakridge students, making it a truly memorable celebration of ideas, talent, and innovation.
Students from Grade 12 CBSE and IBDP had the opportunity to interact with representatives from leading global institutions, including SCAD, Imperial College London, and Northeastern University, gaining valuable insights into programmes, admissions, and future academic pathways. To further support university exploration, Oakridge hosted a University Fair on 25 August, bringing together universities from around the world. The fair featured 18+ universities from India and around the world. The event provided students with a valuable platform to explore programmes, admissions processes, scholarships, and global study options. With more university visits and engagement sessions planned in the coming months, students will continue to benefit from meaningful guidance as they prepare for their higher education journeys.
Our students have once again demonstrated exceptional academic achievement in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). This year’s cohort recorded an impressive highest score of 56, with a school average of 44 and an average grade of 5.3. Further highlighting the depth of student achievement, 40% of students scored 6 and above in the Personal Project, while 54% achieved 6 and above in the Interdisciplinary Unit. Oakridge proudly celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with vibrant displays of patriotism across the school. Our EYP and PYP students came dressed as iconic national leaders, bringing history to life through their enthusiasm. The celebrations featured special dance and musical performances by students and teachers, while classrooms and corridors were beautifully adorned in the colours of the Indian tricolour. In the Senior School, the celebrations commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony led by the Principal. A ceremonial march past by the security team, along with captivating dance and musical performances by MYP and Senior School students, added to the spirit of the occasion. A special performance by the Oakridge Music Team was a highlight of the event. The celebration was made even more meaningful with the presence of students from Keshav Nagar Government School, whose girls presented a delightful dance performance, reflecting the joy, unity, and diversity of our nation.
Following a spirited campaign by more than 25 Grade 5 students, the Junior Prefect Council was elected through a fair and transparent voting process earlier this month. We are delighted to announce Svanda Suskandla as the School Captain and Arjun Reddy as the School Vice-Captain. The newly elected council officially took their oath, pledging to lead with responsibility, integrity, and commitment The Junior Investiture Ceremony celebrated these young leaders as they stepped into their new roles, ready to lead with confidence, responsibility, and integrity.
Through the Balling Beyond initiative, our students transformed a powerful vision into meaningful action by donating 30 laptops and establishing a Digital Self-Learning Centre at Kokapet Government School.
This initiative is helping bridge the digital divide and creating opportunities for young learners to develop future-ready skills in technology, and independent learning. At Oakridge, we believe education is not just about achieving excellence, but about making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
