Dear Parents
June has been a month of new beginnings and meaningful experiences. From students returning to classrooms to global opportunities that encouraged leadership, resilience, and social impact, every experience reflects our commitment to helping children grow into confident, compassionate, and future-ready individuals.
This month’s newsletter offers a glimpse into how learning at Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam extends far beyond textbooks. Whether through international collaborations, outdoor expeditions, wellbeing initiatives, or hands-on classroom experiences, our students continue to learn by questioning, exploring, creating, and connecting with the world around them.
We invite you to look back on the moments that have made this month so memorable and celebrate the many ways our students are learning, growing, and making a positive difference every day.
Warm regards,
Shaila Bhamidipati

Welcome Back to School
June marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter as students returned to the campus after summer break. Warm welcomes, engaging activities, colourful decorations, performances, and joyful reunions helped make the first day memorable for learners across every grade.
Across the campus, friends reconnected, new goals were set, and classrooms quickly came alive with curiosity and conversation. As learning resumed, students stepped into another year of discovery, collaboration, and endless possibilities.
Nord Anglia Education Switzerland Expedition
Learning reached new heights as our students took part in the Nord Anglia Education Expedition to Switzerland, an unforgettable experience that combined adventure, cultural exploration, and personal growth.
Students completed a challenging 26-kilometre trek through the Swiss Alps, spent a night in a mountain hut, and built resilience, teamwork, confidence, and perseverance with every step. Their journey also included visits to the historic town of Gruyères and renowned Swiss cheese and chocolate makers, offering valuable insights into local culture, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
The expedition reminded students that some of life’s greatest lessons are learned beyond the classroom, leaving them with lifelong memories, stronger friendships, and greater confidence to embrace future challenges.
NAE Social Impact Summit 2026
Laxmi Narasimha from Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam joined peers from Nord Anglia schools across the world at the NAE Social Impact Summit 2026 in Houston, USA. Across an immersive week of workshops, discussions, community engagement, and collaborative projects, they explored how young people can become changemakers by addressing real-world challenges.
Working with global organisations including UNICEF, The World’s Largest Lesson, and Generation Global, students strengthened their skills in storytelling, dialogue, advocacy, leadership, and systems thinking while exploring Sustainable Development Goals. They also contributed to community service at the Houston Food Bank, exchanged ideas with fellow student leaders, and developed capstone projects that proposed practical solutions.
The summit concluded with sustainability discussions, student presentations, reflections, and celebrations of the friendships and collaborations built throughout the week. Students returned home with fresh perspectives, stronger leadership skills, and a renewed commitment to creating meaningful change in their communities.
Supporting Student Wellbeing Every Day
Student wellbeing continues to remain at the heart of everything we do at Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam.
Through Wellbeing Bingo, students reflected on simple, meaningful habits that help them care for their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Age-appropriate activities encouraged them to recognise the value of everyday actions such as reading, spending time outdoors, talking to a friend, or taking a mindful break.
Students also continued participating in Mindful Mornings, creating calm and positive starts to their day through moments of reflection and mindfulness. Together, these initiatives reinforce the importance of building healthy habits that support resilience, balance, and lifelong wellbeing.
Learning Through Experience
With learning back in full swing, students quickly immersed themselves in hands-on, experiential learning across subjects. Interactive activities, experiments, collaborative projects, and real-world experiences encouraged them to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and apply their learning with confidence.
At Oakridge Visakhapatnam, learning goes beyond memorising concepts. It is about exploring ideas, solving problems, discovering new perspectives, and developing the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
