Dear Parent,
Greetings!
November has been a busy month with a range of events both in and outside of school. The lessons we learn outside the classroom are equally if not important than the ones we learn inside. I can’t emphasize this enough.
Annual Sports Day 2022 was celebrated on 19 November for Grades 4-12 amidst a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. Our students displayed extraordinary sports skills, impressive discipline, and true spirit of sportsmanship. We witnessed the Games: Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Swimming and Football, final matches and track and field events. All the four houses performed brilliantly, and the intense and close competition was visible in the final scores. There were some fantastic achievements across all year groups. They are amazing, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. The inaugural ceremony, that was a spectacle, was flawless. My deep sense of appreciation and gratitude to all the teachers, coordinators and our Physical Education Team who did a brilliant job in making it a grand and successful event. It was an honour and a proud moment to have M S K Prasad, former Indian cricketer and Chief selector BCCI at the inaugural ceremony. The infectious sportsmanship of the young participants filled the air with cheers and applause. Our heartfelt gratitude to all parents for being such an excited and active audience.
Besides the mega Sports extravaganza, this edition provides updates on the exciting learning and activities across the school. We hope you enjoy reading this November edition.Best Wishes & Warm Regards

Admiring the evening sky is a gateway to lifelong astronomy education. Oakridge International School, Visakhapatam organized a 2-day star gazing session for its students from grade 4 to 9 on 3rd and 4th of November at its campus. Around 172 students were part of this session with Genex Space where they observed celestial objects like venus, jupiter, saturn, different faces of the moon, and various stars.
This programme provided hands-on and practical education for students about Hands-on Telescope Assembling, Calibrating the Telescope, Identification & Location of The Celestial Bodies in The Sky. The main objective of the programme was to introduce students to the universe and help them define their dream.
World Children’s Day is a reminder that what we do today impacts our tomorrow.
At Oakridge we have a weeklong celebration to raise awareness about the RightsOfTheChild, in collaboration with UNICEF.
Here are some glimpses of the World Children’s Week Celebration 2022.
Grade 9 CBSE students visited Horticulture farm in Vizianagaram district. These got detailed understanding of each, and every step involved in crop production.
Students learnt about the organic measures taken to control weeds and pests. They had a wonderful experience of checking the quality of Okra, Ridge-guard and Guava. Students were given insight into the irrigation system, improvement in soil fertility and retaining soil moisture. They checked on how tomatoes, tinda, muskmelon, berries and other plants were cultivated.
Overall it was fun with a take away of good learning.
Real-time experiences help our students to improve their interpersonal and social skills.
With an objective of sensitising students about comparing surroundings around us, Our EY2 learners were taken for a field trip to the Smart City Park. With joy & excitement, students saw the tall and short buildings, compared them and played some games as well. In true sense, this visit to the park helped our students relate to the concepts they had been learning in class with real-life experiences gathered at the park.
Science is the greatest collective human endeavor, the pursuit of which indulges our boundless curiosity of the natural world around and within us, helps us to develop a sound scientific temperament and equips us with the knowledge and skills to improve our lives as well as to change the world for the better.
The G4 Project is a chance for IBDP Students to engage with real world problem solving using an interdisciplinary approach. Over the next few weeks, our students will brainstorm ideas, bring together disciplinary skills and knowledge and collaborate across the year groups to present unique models and solutions to the problem at hand. Using the NAE MIT Challenge given by Dr. Yukiko Yamashita, MIT Professor of Biology, as a rich source of inspiration, students hope to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of asymmetric cell division through the Project, while also allowing them to experience the nature of science and technology firsthand and to develop their IB learner profiles.
Learning and recognising the alphabet as the foundation of our spoken language gives children the advantage of knowing how letters and words are pronounced, how to think in a language, and how to spell in that language, the children of Early Years had a fun activity of letter recognition.
