Dear Parents
The 76th Independence Day was celebrated by our students and staff with great enthusiasm, pride and patriotic fervour on 15th August 2022 in the school.
August has been a wonderful month for us with a lot of initiatives and achievements to share. I am delighted to inform you that UNICEF publishes our students’ reports. As a part of the NAE-UNICEF Summit this year, our incredible student reporters Jazz (CBSE Grade 11) and Yashita (IBDP1) along with four students from other Nord Anglia schools wrote an overview of key sessions at this year’s High-level Political forum.
This month on the occasion of National Handloom Day, we at Oakridge Visakhapatnam have come up with an initiative of Handloom Fridays to preserve our country’s heritage crafts. We also organized a Handloom Exhibition where weavers from around the city had come to display their masterpieces.
The Petition launched by our UNICEF team to create awareness about the #SayNoToSingleUsePlastic and Save our Oceans has received a wonderful response with about 460 signatures. For those who missed it, I invite you to join us and sign the petition and pledge your support toward a plastic-free environment.
As we gear up through the academic session, we have some exciting events lined up. The preparations are for the University Fair and TOK Exhibition. We are also organizing a series of Beach Cleaning Drives to create awareness about marine pollution and analyze the magnitude of marine pollution.
Many more activities for the accomplishment month of August are awaiting your read. I invite you all to go through them and thank you for being such an involved part of it.
I once again thank the parents for volunteering to be a part of our prestigious Oakridge Parent Partnership and I wish them All the Best for a great year ahead.
Best Wishes
Ms.Shaila Bhamidipati

Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam
Oakridge International School organsied an Inter-School District level competition to create the awareness about the #SayNoToSingleUsePlastic initiative, among the children of Visakhapatnam.
About 800 students from 57 schools in and around Visakhapatnam participated. The event included four competitions – Poster Making, Short Story Writing, Poetry Recitation and Painting, all of them focussing on the theme “Say NO to plastic, Save our Oceans”.
The common goal of the event was to educate the young generation about the ill effects of single use plastic and the harm it is causing to our marine ecosystem.
On the occasion of National Handloom Day, we have come up with an initiative of Handloom Fridays to preserve, promote, celebrate and appreciate the richness of Indian Handlooms.
We organised a Handloom Exhibition where weavers from around the city have come to display their works.
Research studies in psychology regularly deal with biases and falsification of
theories.
Our IBDP1 students were given a chance to conduct natural observations
according to the research question designed by them. This exercise helped to
reinforce their knowledge of concepts and also helped them to identify and
counter the possible biases in the methods used.
Students from grade 9 to 12 had an informative session on International Award For Young People (IAYP) by Mr. Bivujit Mukhoty, Programme Manager IAYP.
IAYP is a globally recognized self-development program for students aged between 14 to 25. This program aims to offer young people new skills, make them experience new challenges, find new friends, and access new cultures around the world.
