This summer, build your resume.

The school year is over. Students have taken their last exam, cleaned out their locker and distributed their old books. What’s the next thing a student looks forward to?

“Summer vacations”. It is an amazing time for students as they get a long break from their studies and enjoy the activities of their interests. This is also one of the best times for students to work towards building a strong profile.

Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Decentralized Blockchains will have a huge impact on the future workforce. For the first time in history, we are preparing our children to face the world of uncertainty by assisting them to develop skills required for jobs that are yet to be created.

The end of high school marks the beginning of a new phase in the child’s life as they start applying to universities. While evaluating applications, colleges not only consider students accomplish while school’s in session, but also in how they use their time productively when school is out.

I usually encourage my students to use their summer vacations to build a strong resume for themselves. The kids have a wide range of options to choose from –  Online courses, internships, community service, summer school, blogging, advanced placement course, mastering a new hobby, a sport or an instrument. Along with the list of summer schools, I encourage my students to consider some of the below options:

a.        Harvard Summer School

b.        Coursera

c.         Udemy

d.        Open Yale Courses

e.         AP Courses and Exams

f.         Oxford Summer Courses

g.        PROMYS

h.       Oxford Summer Courses in Oakridge International School, Bengaluru
