Update from the Principal’s Desk | May 2026
- 27 May 2026
The academic year began with a strong belief in the power of education and the potential of every student. Strong IB MYP and DP results reinforced our commitment to excellence, setting a confident tone for the year. As we welcomed returning and new families, we focused on building a connected community where everyone feels a true sense of belonging. Together, we continue to nurture intentional, compassionate learners, ensuring that every aspect of school life reflects our shared values and vision.
Throughout the year, students showed exceptional leadership and initiative, shaping the school experience in meaningful ways. From the Student Council journey to Oak MUN, Phoenix Cup, Code Fest, and Relay for Life, their efforts reflected ownership and collaboration.
Key IB milestones like the DP Collaborative Science Projects, ToK and CAS Exhibitions, the MYP Personal Project, the PYP Exhibition, and student-led conferences highlighted the depth of inquiry and critical thinking. These experiences show what is possible when learners are given voice and choice, making learning authentic, relevant, and impactful while preparing them as confident global citizens.
This has been a year of rich experiences. From Performing Arts Showcases and the Visual Arts Exhibition to Oaklympics, Global Campus Engagements, and Outstation Trips, students explored learning beyond the classroom. These opportunities helped them build deeper connections and discover new strengths.
Whether it was our youngest learners stepping onto the stage or older students representing the school, every moment reflected growth, confidence, and a strong sense of community pride.
There is much to celebrate. Our DP2 students have begun receiving offers from leading universities, reflecting their readiness for the future. Across programmes, students excelled in academics, competitions, the arts, entrepreneurship, sports, and service.
Several students received Social Impact grants from Nord Anglia Education, while initiatives like Relay for Life strengthened compassion within the community. Sporting achievements across Cricket, Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, and Taekwondo showcased dedication to excellence. The launch of the Oakridge Impact Awards recognised around 75 students—young changemakers leading with purpose.
This year saw key improvements in our learning environment. The introduction of Toddle in Primary and Middle School, alongside ManageBac in higher grades, increased visibility of learning and feedback, strengthening connections between students and families.
The shift to subject-based classrooms in Secondary encouraged independence and deeper engagement. Each step reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and meaningful student growth.
Staff development remains central to student success. This year, two teachers completed their Master’s at King’s College London, sponsored by Nord Anglia Education. Many others participated in IB workshops, Harvard programmes, IB conferences, and leadership training.
A team of 12 teachers are contributing to the NAE Metacognition Project, strengthening teaching practices through effective thinking routines. These efforts are committed to drive stronger classroom outcomes.
Our partnership with parents continues to be one of our greatest strengths. Initiatives like Curriculum Mornings, Monday Webinars, and Beyond Classroom opportunities on Padlet have kept families engaged and informed.
Your participation in webinars, Coffee Mornings, surveys, and everyday interactions has played a vital role in shaping our journey. In a time of evolving challenges around technology and wellbeing, this partnership helps us guide students with clarity and consistency. Your trust enables us to keep growing together.
This year has been shaped by meaningful moments and a shared sense of pride not just in achievements, but in the culture, we continue to build together.
As we close the academic year, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our entire community for your trust, support, and partnership. Wishing everyone a restful and rejuvenating summer break.
I look forward to welcoming you back in July as we begin the 2026–27 academic year together.
