The nationwide lockdown due to pandemic has affected the livelihoods of many. Millions of Indians who rely on daily wages from jobs are running out of money. Migrant workers are finding it difficult to return home and are stranded with no money.

Akshita, a grade 6 student from Oakridge International School Bachupally was keen to help the poor and do her bit for the nation. She is an avid artist and decided to sell her paintings to raise money for the cause. She has sold 16 of her beautiful artworks so far and wants to continue raising funds through making and selling more art pieces.

“I have been noticing and watching people donating to PM Cares for COVID-19. Art has always been my passion while doing so I got a wonderful idea to do something for my country through my Art. I sold a few of my art samples each costing Rs 500 within my family and friends through WhatsApp. I was so happy to see the response from my close ones. I have raised Rs 8000 and donated to the PM Care relief fund with the help of my parents. I am thankful to my parents for their great support and encouragement”, says Akshita.

“When you start to develop your power of empathy and imagination, the whole world opens up to you” – Akshita’s meaningful action helps us to reflect on how to face reality with staunchness, make meaning of hardship instead of crying out in despair, and improvise solutions from thin air.
