OAKiq 2016-17 – Hunt for the next whiz kid

Oakridge International School, Einstein Campus stands out again with OAKiq. OAKiq, the multi-city quiz competition started by Oakridge International School, Einstein Campus, in association with Nexus and The Hindu Young World, is the ultimate quizzing platform for school students of India. The quiz has received an overwhelming response with more than 550 teams from over 35 schools participating in Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Mohali and Hyderabad across three categories i.e. Sub-junior, Junior and Seniors. On January 21st, the Grand Finale Quiz was held wherein Winners and First runners-up teams from each city were pitted against each other. Dr. Naveen Jayakumar, who has been hosting the Landmark Open Quiz since 1994 and is an author of several quiz books was the quizmaster and he conducted the quiz with alacrity. Mr Venkatesh Srinivasan and Hrishikesh from Nexus Consulting created the very interesting questions for the Finale covering current affairs, sports, general knowledge, history and more. The quiz consisted of four rounds with a rapid fire round and buzzer round that made it more exciting for both the young minds and the audience.In the sub-juniors, the first prize was won by Aritro Ray and Aayush Ranjan of Chirec International, Hyderabad; second prize by Mohith Ganee and Mihir Anandalai of Vibgyor High Marathali, Bengaluru. In Juniors, the first prize was bagged by Adithya Sai and Arvind of Sangamitra School, Hyderabad; second prize by Minal Shaik and Nikhil B of Vibgyor High Marathalli School, Bengaluru.In seniors, the first prize was secured by Aditya Kannan and Samyukta Shrivastava of PSBB Learning Leadership Academy, Bengaluru; second prize by Vedant Negi and Md. Aatiq of Presidency School (South), Bengaluru.All the first prize winners received Rs. 25,000/- and runners-up received Rs. 10,000/-. Ms Hemalatha Sanjaya, Principal, Oakridge Einstein Campus, says, “OAKIQ was born to spread the light of knowledge. It is an Oakridge initiative to bring the children out of the internet world and stand out of the league in this competitive world.” In keeping with the school’s vision, OAKiq will be held every year to give young minds a platform for quizzing and showcasing their knowledge to the world. Here’s looking forward to an exciting Season II of Oakiq 2017-2018.
