Dear Oakridge Parents,

What an action-packed New Year this has been! We were featured in the Bangalore news for the student-led Codefest and the regional STEAM summit at Vizag in January, followed by a series of inter-house competitions culminating in the Sports Day Mid-Feb and the very next week we readied the school grounds for the much-awaited and talked about Leadership Camp. Thank you so much to all the parents for cheering on our students through all these events.

Parenting is not easy and as school is extended family for students and we are like foster parents to them, we fully recognize your challenge. Therefore, to support you, we have initiated Positive Parenting workshops in the school. We are starting the first session in the first week of March for selective grades but plan to eventually open it for other grades as well. Each of these workshops will be customised to your needs and will provide practical solutions to daily parenting issues. The information on the first workshop is out; ask for your spot if you have not reserved it already.

We have been hosting several career counseling sessions for grade 8 and above. I am pleased to share that this has been very well received by all the stakeholders. This guidance on profile building from grade 8 onwards will provide a big impetus and edge to Oakridge students at the time of college applications.

The other area of focus for us has been continuous professional development for teachers. We had all our teachers in term 1 go through the IB certification workshops and it did not stop there. Our professional development manager, Ms.Supriya Menon has been ensuring that each teacher is completing at least one new training on the Nord Anglia University portal. In addition, we have had the best trainers from the Nord Anglia family visit us for various training, our teachers have gone out to Vietnam and in a few months’ time some of them will fly to MIT, US for STEAM training program.

Then we had students sharing their wish lists for books in the Library, before winter break. Pleased to share that based on the precious wish list of our students we ordered close to 300 international book titles. The book order is on the way and we are eager to arrange them on the racks for our student’s delight and reading.

I want to conclude by thanking all parents for cooperating with us on the makeshift parking arrangements we had to do due to the back-parking area being inaccessible. Let me assure you the new space is getting ready and in about a month’s time, this issue will be resolved for good. Hope to catch you around the school. Feel free to write to me or meet me should you have anything to discuss
