Have you ever fallen sick? How did you find a cure? Is it a doctor who prescribed your medicines?
Well, we cannot deny the importance of a doctor in our lives. For our good health, there’s a doctor who has taken care of our body since our childhood. They have guided us through what’s bad and what’s good for our body and how to live a healthy lifestyle. It is thus important to dedicate a day to recognize their sleepless nights and hard work they put in to find a cure for our diseases and save our lives.
National Doctor’s Day is celebrated on 1st July of every year across India to honor the Bharat Ratna awardee Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy – the legendary physician and 2nd Chief Minister of West Bengal who was born on this day. Our students from Oakridge, one of the top IGCSE Schools in Visakhapatnam decided to recognize and appreciate the efforts of doctors on this day and celebrate the contributions of doctors to individual lives and communities. To meet and greet the doctors, they visited the government hospitals in the vicinity of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam and to celebrate the Doctor’s day.
In Vizianagaram, Oakridgers visited the Maharaja Hospital and met Dr. Seetha Ramu Raju, Medical Superintendent and other doctors on duty and greeted them with roses and appreciated their services. Dr Seetha Ramu Raju expressed his happiness and said, “I am thrilled to see young Oakridgers taking the lead and reaching out to doctors and celebrate the Doctors’ Day with us at the hospital. We are very impressed by Oakridge students’ gesture.”
Nithi, a grade 7 student, said: “I come from a family of doctors and have seen my parents always giving priority to their patients. Doctors inspire me as they always take care of their patients, even at the cost of their family.” This is a day to help the people understand and know the importance of a doctor and teach people to show gratitude to their respective doctors.
Let’s be thankful to all the doctors not just on the Doctor’s day but every day.
