Take a Pledge – Save Food

Today in assembly Grade 6 J presented a beautiful role play with the message to save food. Yes, it is a big issue in India. Students also shared facts about food wastage. After the students completed their act, out school principal Ms.Ghuman addressed the students and shared how in Mumbai Dabbawala’s have started ‘Share My Dabba’ initiative. It aims at sharing food with less fortunate people, instead of wasting it. This is a good way to inculcate good habits.

At Oakridge, one of the best CBSE Schools in Chandigarh, we have CAS committee which has started a very good practice. The students of the committee are working on controlling wastage of food. Students are very enthusiastic towards CAS project and during Lunch time they keep a check so that no one waste food. They ask students to take small helpings and some of the students also help the younger ones finish food left in their plates. The aim of CAS committee is “Zero wastage”.
