Oak MUN 2017 – A Platform for global student leaders.

Hyderabad’s most prestigious MUN (Model United Nations) conference- Oak MUN 2017 embarked with a great involvement of students from across the nation at HICC, Novotel. Organized by Oakridge International School, this conference is a platform which drives a diverse group of students from different schools to participate in debating, sharing and evaluating current world issues.

At the three-day MUN simulated conference this year, more than 300 student delegates participated in debates of various country representatives on International policy matters. The highlight of the conference was Olympic Silver Medalist P. V. Sindhu visit to the Oak MUN 2017. She interacted with the students and shared her motivational journey to the glory of Olympics. Apart from this, she advised the participants to set their goals, work hard, be focused and dedicated towards the goals, be undeterred by setbacks. She said, apart from studies, sports is a good way to be healthy and feel refreshed.

In 2011, Oakridge initiated its MUN simulated program and with every passing year, it has established a strong MUN base for the students and has successfully developed their repertoire in debating skills. One after another program, OakMUN has proved to be one of the most successful and popular high school conferences after Harvard MUN in Hyderabad. Above all, this program is driven by the Oakridgers itself which makes it unique among the rest where students apply their knowledge and skills to evaluate the world issues and also organize the entire event themselves.

Oakridge, one of the best CBSE schools in Hyderabad strongly believes in ‘Learning by Doing’, and this program is one of the best examples of experiential learning that provides students role play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. It helps them with a better understanding of the inner working of the UN. In addition, students also develop and hone their skills as they get to involve themselves in substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
