Design Championship 2017! A platform that gives school students an opportunity to explore, learn, and create, and to put their skills to use. This competition reignites their creative side by encouraging them to think outside of the box and motivating their interest in Science, Technology. The competition was organized by MindBox, AutoDesk, Corel, and Unity. It is being held across India in 7 cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Coimbatore, respectively.

Students of Oakridge International School from Bangalore and Einstein campuses not only participated in the Design Championship 2017 but also won titles under different categories which include Game Design category, Industrial category, Movie Making category and Graphic Design category.

A team comprising of Maduganti Vaishnavi, Sriharini Margapuri And Naisha Dadlani from Oakridge Einstein Campus was announced as the winner of the Design Championship 2017 under the “Game Design category” held in Hyderabad. Three other students; Muduganti Vasisht, Pranav Yerram and Govind Aadhya Yemireddy from the same campus bagged THE SPECIAL JURY AWARD in the competition under the same category. The students build a game all on their own, in a very short duration of time using Ren’Py and RPG maker that was completely new to them. Ren’Py is a visual novel engine creating software that runs on the coding script Python that helps in using words, images, and sounds to tell interactive stories that run on computers and mobile devices. RPG maker allows users to create their own role-playing games. These game engines are all highly professional.

Kabir DeSarkar of Grade-9 from Oakridge, one of the best schools in Bengaluru won THE SPECIAL JURY AWARD in Design Championship 2017 under the “Industrial Design Category” held in Bangalore. Kabir created a helmet to improve the experience of biking on the roads by adding headphone technology, along with that increased the safety of the helmet by using revolutionary materials like graphene. He says “This Smart helmet would make all components lighter, make the experience more enjoyable and increase the flexibility of the safety system.
