It is a great honour for Oakridge International School, Mohali that two of our students, Bhai Parkash Singh Brar of Grade 4 in Category 2 and Daania Dadhwal of Grade 8 in Category 3 have both secured the 3rd position at the National Level in the ‘Oxford Big Read Global’ Competition conducted by the ‘Oxford University Press (OUP).’ It is an annual celebration of literacy where students read books, complete projects and get an opportunity to earn awards and prizes, sponsored by Oxford University Press (OUP). Students from across the country took part in the competition. They were required to read one book out of the list prescribed by Oxford. The best twelve entries across all three levels were sent for the national level competition.

Winners of 2020-2021 and their entries were selected nationally from participating schools of India, Middle East and Sri Lanka, and then they have become semi-finalists in the global competition in which schools from Turkey, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Pakistan are participating, along with India.

In the feedback given to the students by the jury at Oxford, they mentioned how deeply they were impressed by Bhai Parkash Singh Brar’s and Daania Dadhwal’s insightful writing. The two students received national certificates and a stack of books from Oxford University and the school received a shield for its students gaining such laurels. Kudos to the students!
